Hey all,
My girlfriends sister had some idiot drive into the back of her a while ago. Anyway, she called Tesco insurance and they organised a garage for her to take it to and she was given a courtesy car. Everything was cool until she got a phone call from Tesco, saying her car was modified because it has alloy wheels, and if she didn't pay ?350 (apparently the sum from all the years she's been using them for insurance, but hadn't told them about the wheels) then she wouldn't be insured on the courtesy car - how nice of them, and can they even do that?!
The wheels are standard Toyota Yaris ones, and I personally think they've been on there from the factory - her car's got central locking and electric windows so it's not a billy basic, alloys would make perfect sense.
Does anyone know how we can check the spec of her car when it rolled out of the factory? All I can think is to go into Toyota with the chassis number and get them to have a look. If it turns out the wheels are standard, then she can tear the nice people at Tesco a new asshole, and never use them for insurance again.
Cheers for any help...
