Hi,
2006 Touran 1.6 petrol with intermittent power steering,
rumors says need a new steering rack because the power steering comes with the steering column.

Behaviour: you start the car, no p/s so you need muscles, drive some minute and here you go,
p/s is back again. You drive and drive then stop the engine, go away for some minutes
(don't know how many) then start the engine and again no p/s.

A foreign garage read DTC and owner report it has problem in the p/s control module.
So foreign garage said he need a new steering rack.

Anyone has idea if it is possible to repair p/s control module?

I didn't read DTC, nor have seen the car.

would have thought if removable could be replaced by new module if not repairable, checked place where i got my ecu repaired and not listed for that.

No point repairing those racks they are dirt cheap. From 50-100 pounds max.

It's cheap but if a similar 9 years old rack will last a couple of months I don't think customer will be happy. Btw I already told him a used one is cheap.
Will report what customer want to do.

Received the answer: they haven't repaired this module yet but they will take a look for a certain
price and if they can solve they'll add the repair price, if there is no solution they will send the unit back.
Shipping cost are mine in both cases.

Btw I found many that sells repaired steering rack, now it's time the customer takes a decision.
