You need to read Motorola and then program key by dump using any transponder programmer which has module for it.

does t300 / sbb program the remote for these normally, I had one that sbb did not connect and t300 says its connected reads wrong key data and wont delete / add keys, didn't have anything else with me at the time.

Xprog has an adapter. Simply plug it into the EWS module and read EWS data from the pins. No soldering/IC reading neccesary.
its the top row of small pins 1, 3&4.
Use the dump and write a blank PCF7935 to the EWS.
Best tool for these for me is EWS Editor 3.2.0 - 2 minute job.
AK90 is also decent, especially for some Landrover which have plug like EWS2 and cant be read by the ews3 adapter.
T300 can program remotes no problem if you have barcode tag that comes with key.

do you know if t300 deletes the remotes ok, as it said 4 remotes programmed, and wouldn't erase.. it said success a few times but it didn't erase. will have to go back soon as it was just for a friend so only took minimum tools with me.

I cant remember if the T300 had erase remotes as a function? Does it no only give you 'PROGRAM REMOTES' as an option?
Been a while since i did one mate, but if i remember right, have these Mini's not got x amount of spaces (10 possibly, same as EWS?) then once the maximum number of remotes are added that's it - New module time? I thought that's how they worked.
I have no idea to be honest... I just get the b**tard running - then hit the road.
I'd like to add, 3Dgroup remotes are brill for these though. Never had any problems, and only 40 bucks.

I use EWS Editor to read EWS dump, generate key and use AK90 to program transponder because writing transponder with EWS Editor is not so good.

I fine mini remote programming hit and miss, Ive used ori AD and t300 etc but I rarely succeed in getting the remote to work :(

Yeah, I agree. It is complicated to do the job fully with EWS Editor if not sure how to write PCF
Fastest way, read dump from EWS with that, then use Effi and zedbull. write existing key slot 0 to PCF - no need to write back anything to EWS, car starts.

Whats INPA like for Mini Remotes?
Never used the poor mans BMW software maself like, but it does sync EWS and DME and what not... and other bits n bobs?
Mite buy it and see. Anyone know if it does?
Also, enabling and disabling EWS keys by OBD? Can it do that?

Sorry for reviving old thread. I just wrote new transponder from USED slot 4 in effi, original and only key that we have is on slot 2 so i did not wrote back dump to EWS (since i used new tranponder on used slot). Car wont start with new key , old key (slot 2) works as before , i tried turning ignition ON few times and waiting.... what do you think can be problem? I dont have another blank tranponder ATM .

The problem is:
Key slot four will be unused.
The car will only have key's 0,1,2,3 being enabled to start the car. Key 4 which you have made will be programmed to match EWS, but it needs enabled by OBD or by re-writing as USED into EWS
Fastest way to get running - write a new PCF7935 to key slot 0
Or alternatively, write back EWS ENABLING key 4, or enable key 4 with some sort of diagnostic tool.

tnx, but i think all way up to 6 are all used when i open to analize EWS dump. That is why wrote slot 4. I know i have to re-write dump if i open new slot. Can you just explain me what is slot 0? i saw in effi but when you analize EWS in xprog / carpog there are only slots 1-10 is maybe slot 0 in effi slot 10 actually ? tnx for help
btw it is E46 ews3 not mini cooper but i dont think that matters, mask 0d46j

You don't have to re-write anything when using new slot on E46. Choose key number 7 (or higher)for example , program blank PCF and start the car. You have 10 slots(0-9 or 1-10).

I think you have to rewrite an ews when using 7-10 which are in this case NEW slots and not used. Maybe just if ews accept that new chip automaticly but i dont think that is case, you have to rewrite or open it using some obd diag tool

You shouldn't ever have to re-write the file, new or used key slots. I have had an issue with an ews4 writing a used posn (all others start up right away) and had to use an unused slot. I could have reset the rolling code on the slot I wanted to use but was too lazy to pull and re-read the module. On new posns I always turn the key on for a few seconds then take out for a few seconds then put it in and car starts right up. This is exactly as if you received a key from bmw/mini, they are programmed to an unused slot and should start the car right up

No. No need to re-write. Soft takes the particular key number fixed part and programs the transponder(rolling part is FF......). That's it.

I have been successful in re-writing a chip that was not properly coded to the car (that ews4 one I was dealing with). I just re-wrote from posn 2 to posn 10 and it started right up. Worth a shot

Most ews's only have keys 0,1,2,3 enabled and sometimes 4. Any further keys may have been issued by dealer.
Slot 0 is actually the 1st key.
And If he doesn't need to re-write anything, then why is it not starting with his new PCF?
Just try using a key slot before key 2 - write a chip to an already lost key an it will start.

If you look at EWS dump will see that all 10 keys fixed parts are there. Used Keys (for example 0-3) variable part part is different than FF......FF. Unused keys variable part is FF...FF. Re-write is necessary when enable or disable keys, change of VIN, ISN, etc.
