Firstly i'm not a noob to this and have setup many of these boxes before ranging from f3, f5s, v5s and v8s's..

The problem i have is with a particular openbox v8s that wont recieve any sly sports or movie channels but will recieve other sub related sports channels. I've set this box up identical to another v8s i have using the exact same channel list and sub and that works perfectly. I've even taken an image and flashed it across to the problematic box, but still no joy. The only thing i've noticed thats strange is that for some reason the signal on the problematic box seems alot lower even though i'm using the same cables. I've even tried the box on a totally different dish but still no joy.

Sorry if i've broken any rules, but this one is really making me scratch my head. If rules of this site mean you cant reply then i would appreciate it if someone could contact me directly via email at*****- many thanks boys.

So you've tried the problematic box on another dish and the problem is still apparent, you've also tried another working v8s (with same working image, channel list and ####) on the original dish and no problem is apparent. To me it sounds like your problematic box is knackered, if possible I would return to to the seller for a refund or replacement.

thanks for your help guys.... but honestly it is the strangest of problems and has been blagging my head for a few weeks now... i'm sure its something to do with the transponder/lnb port on the box itself, as the signal seems weak compared to other v8s boxes have tried side by side. Would one of those "magic wand / no singal fix" adapters that you can buy boost anything?? I've read that these help the signal on certain freqencies, and this problem does seem only to af~~~~ certain channels. Just a bit for info... but I never use the "loop" port as i have a dedicated cable to my box, so its not a loop issue.

It sounds like the tuner is faulty to me. I agree with martin035, if it's a new box then I would return it as faulty. If it's an older box, I would flog it on Ebay for "spares or repair".

The "no signal fix" doesn't boost anything. It's simply a diode in series with the LNB supply that reduces the voltage slightly. It only cures problems with "no signal" messages on vertical transponders, and it normally only occurs if another satellite box is connected to another port on the same LNB.

Are your problem channels all on vertical transponders?
