Smart forfour fuel gauge error

Car fuel gauge is not working properly, I sometimes get 2 bubbles showing on a full tank of fuel, and it stays that way all day or longer, then goes to 3 or 4 bubbles, what gives here?
Anybody know this problem?

Have seen this fault on three of the four smart forfour's i have repaired...re-solder both, problem solved
there are 2 resistors in parallel on the dash pcb... 32ohm surface mount. one of them has a dry joint.345261

If you are talking about those resistors labeled "331", they are 330 ohm, not 32. I couldn't find any 32ohm resistors in your picture.

Yep, you are correct, 330 ohm. With the dry joint the fuel gauge would randomly jump to 2 or 3 bars.

usualy you have to reset with das.

empty fuel tank and reset to zero dash bars with das
