about ?130 APPROX all I need it for is sat tv pref hd don't need an all singing all dancing box but have a long run of cable so a good tuner would be nice.

just been looking at this box but know nothing about it. Zgemma Star 2S Satellite Receiver Twin DVB-S2 Tuner

The gemma 2s is a decent little box but pitifully slow compared to your quad. They struggle with a direct plex stream within the same network (no it's not my plex server at fault lol) as long as you bear in mind the speed and don't try to set up permanent time shift you'll be ok

I thought the zgemma 2s was a clone box as I thought they used patched images.

Nope they are made by airdigital who did and still make ibox (clones) the zgemma is a range in there own right. Vix do not support them so patched vix images are necessary but they are fully supported by openatv, opendroid and italysat, not sure if any more image makers are joining in.

Well the Zgemma 2s is as you stated a twin tuner box, if you don't need the record facility then perhaps a Zgemma S will do, exactly the same box less one tuner and about ?50 on the bay, ?20 cheaper than the 2s.

for single tuner receivers in that price bracket and with a little more grunt i would pitch for either a Vu Zero or a TM-Nano-Se both use the same chipset but the Zero has a far more wider image choice, or you could get the Nano-Se M2 which is the new model and supports internal hard drive if you so wish.

The speed on either of those models blows the Zgemma's out of the park

just shows you the difference in quality of units and why research is needed.
