Need advice buying a tool

Hi guys

I am looking for a good safe tool to read edc17xxxx and pcr 2.1 via boot mode, i am not a chip tuner, and just want to access the mac, Cs, pin from the ecu, thats all.
I have seen few on net(clones), like mpps, kes v2, cmd, byte shooter, etc, not sure which one to buy, any help is greatly apreciated. My avdi has this option, but it costs loads for my need.

I have seen Kess V2 clone token free, can this tool safely read write the 2 above ecu's via boot mode?
Autofan, do you know of a tool which can do both?

Found a guy on ebay he recons he has the answer, Fgtech for ?125!! browes his ebay shop, and try not to laugh!.
Does anyone know him?

The guy is based in Italy and indicate in auction 3 times that ''this is not Europ version of FGTech''......thats only mean he offer ........better china version.
Another thing if someone offer with pride ''Volta'' software for me should not sell any chiptuning tools :)

Don't bother with fgtech for these 2 if you get a China clone kess it will come with the pcr unlock adapter. You can do Edc17 on vaga via obd till 2009 if i was you I'd get a ktag and kess your covered for most things but beware there's a lot of new protocols out that they don't so. I've gone to a genuine cmd and trasdata now

I had one token free kess V2. It is not token free actually. It has 60 tokens inside and j-tag to reprogram every 60 tokens for one more 60 tokens. When I tried to reprogram it...it just dies.
This is crap. Now I have galleto v54 china and have no such problems.

Oh boy, i just found the Kess thread, and read all 29 pages,now even more confused .i think i might just buy pcr 2.1/edc17xxx reader by avdi, and just get a european (reworked!!), thanks for all the pm and tips, apreciated.

What do you mean by conversion? i might be wrong but after reading those posts, i am none the wiser, lots of bikering. i came to the conclustion, that people buy the clone, rework it, update the hw/fw and sell it as european version, might be wrong though.

the good option is to buy ktag euro clone or like colleges say buy ori slave ktag change npx get update and all done you will be able to read on boot mode almost what you want .
