I have a dm500s and subscribe to a card share package which is via fixed dish (communal sky dish).I get most sky channels but if I take my box a few hundred yards up the road to my m8s house I get more channels. The channels I get there but cant get via my own house include Sentanta Ireland Sky premiere and premiere plus 1 At the races ESPN Classic are the main ones.Any advice/help would be greatly appreciated.

which box are you using? you need to do a manual scan. go to LyngSat - Lyngemark Satellite (http://www.lyngsat.com) and check the transponders for channels you want

It could be an alignment issue with the communal dish at your place. If your box is getting more chanels at your mates, then you know the box is fine and all the channels are scanned in. If you get a chance and know your neighbours, ask then if they get the mising channels on their setup.

many thanks thought perhaps stupidly that as fixed dish you got all channels or none must be an alignment issue then.

You should get all the Sky channels on a fixed dish as they are all broadcast from 28.2e, but I'm thinking that maybe the communal dish may not be aligned spot on.
If your box is a clone for example, then the tuner may not be the best, and therefore the weaker signal would cause the channels to be 'lost' on your setup at home.
It's just a thought though! It may be worthwhile to see if your mates box has the same issues on your communal dish.

Its definately a problem with your feed from the communal dish.

I'm near certain it's a dish/coax issue then. Your best bet would be to find out who looks after that side of things and get them out t have a look at the alignment, and coax going to the tv point in your wall.

Maybe you can make a backup services file of your mates box and ftp the file to your box and see if the missing channels work as they will be on your box after. You can check the signal strength this way, might be worth a try

No its simple. the missing channels are on weaker transponders. That explains it all.
