Hello guys
i've been wantig to register for a long time to share with you my experience with my Wetek Play. but i have always delaying that until now.
But im not gonna talk about the wetek Play for now, first i wanna ask you something.
while juggling through the internet i found some news about a new wetek (wetek streamer), but no one seams to know about it.
thats what i wanna ask you guys,
have you heard about this?
i found it on a hardware forum, and followed its source to an official distributor of wetek on france or belgium, that will starts selling it on the 12th of this month
i leave you the link to the "shop": http://www.seeandsound.com/recepteur...-streamer.html (http://www.seeandsound.com/recepteur-fta/2039-wetek-streamer.html)
and a pdf with the specs: http://www.seeandsound.com/index.php...d_attachment=2 (http://www.seeandsound.com/index.php?controller=attachment&id_attachment=2)
hope to have feedback from you
cheers

It's a non-starter for me similar to the Wetek Core, No HDMI 2.0 with HDR support only 1.4, No HD Audio Formats supported only standard Dolby digital and DTS. they do seem to have fixed the H.265 running @60hz but this must still be 10bit compliant and not 8bit compliant like the Core.
No Thanks from me still way behind the Nvidia Shield TV

hello digicon
thank you for your input on the matter.
while i understand perfectly what you say, i don't think they should be compared to one another.
Sounds like your are comparing a Mercedes class S with a Ford Fiesta :P
While i concur that the Nvidia is in fact better is also 3 times more expensive.
I think Wetek developed the Streamer to be a low budget device, so we don't have to lean on those shady clones.
And as they say on the .pdf it's the best device to Hotels, Hospitals and Markets.

Not 3 times as expensive only double, €99 equates to ?75 the Shield is ?150 with Remote and Games controller so certainly worth the extra, you may as well get an Amazon firestick for ?35 and save the rest

You're right i made the math wrong it's double price.
nvidia is indeed a better equipment than the Streamer.
But in another perspective how would you compare with similar range products? for instance the mag or the roku?

I was just looking for their products in CABSAT.
and the streamer is not a good box at all... unless you only use it for kodi.
But wetek is launching a new Wetek play 2S and that looks like a beast.
slot for SSD, tuners, qwerty remote. that will be something to look in the future

Yeah i already looked at it, it's gonna combine the best of both worlds. Tuners + IPTV plus some little features that might please some.
i'm hoping to replace my Play, and probably will be with Play 2S if the price continues to be reasonable as wetek does.

Ye i'm hopping to get one for myself too, but the wait, damn.
Do you know when they be launching it to the market?
i really wanted to upgrade my MAG, and get some tuner capability.

They say 2nd quarter! worst case scenario June!
It's just around the corner.
I'm hoping that release it sooner

I know that we agreed that the streamer was not a good box! but i was making my evaluation based on the 99€ price.
I just found it on europe shops for 69€ that 1/3 cheaper. makes some difference, because you won't get similar price/quality from other brands.
Still i have bought a Core, and can't get enough of it, just arrived today. cheers
