Personally if I was a Mod I would make you wait until you had the decency to introduce yourself properly, it doesn't cost anything and you would definitely be made more welcome (you have already turned me off)

EDIT : beaten to it by Mano

Should increase the post count to 50 post *OR* 2 weeks with 1 post. Either or. Should stop the spammers posting drivel like this.

I agree, its pointless having a 1 post rule if its not enforced. Every first post is "oh thanks for this I'll give it a go", and you know they are only posting to get the downloads. Either don't have a 1 post rule or enforce it by longer time delays or saying the posts have to be helpful and relevant. Saying thanks as a first post should be a ban imo.

Personally I think the posting rule is evidently a little pointless.....because at the end of the day the people who just want to download the files do, and the ones that feel like joining up with the comunity will do so, having a post to download rule just encourages people to post filler.....we all know how many people only come here when their box keys go down etc, or just to download something....the only thing a post to download rule does is artificially bump the amount of members we have - but the trade off is crap posts and phantom members. Might be just as well removing the post to download restriction alltogether and just have a comunity that wants to contribute....as making it harder to download would just turn people away or encourage yet more filler posts. This is just my take on the subject.

I rest my case....As stated before, see my post regarding this precise sort of thing, under topic - `Contraversial...?`

raising the post count means they just post more crap... it works just fine as it is and we do go through and weed out the thanks posts..

I might be asking the wrong person this, maybe I should be PMing Devilfish with this....but why do we even bother to have a post to download rule in the first place ? Most people here to download circumvent it anyhow or try to....and most websites only require someone to sign up to download.....just thinking we might be better off having people sign up to be able to see and access the download section....at least then anyone that does post won't be posting filler.

I may well be failing to see the obvious here, but it just doesn't make sense to me why we bother insisting on a post rule which is actively circumvented to the point where the damage (filler post) is done before it's rectified. I personally just don't see what is gained from this ruling to be perfectly honest - maybe DF or one of the members of staff could enlighten me on this one.....

I have only joined tonight, but i agree with raven, however i do understand from previous forums that it must be annoying with all the pointless 'filler' you get. I would imagine making a post, for someone who just wants the download, possibly will cause them to leave a short and possibly rude post because they dont understand the orgional reason for you trying to get people involved, like the guy who started this post, who probably hasnt been back since!

As a new user I do agree, its a bit cheeky posting for the sake of it just to gain a download, That was my initial intention, but its actually a good site and am glad I came across it.

The reality of the situation is that there are plenty of places where downloads are available. A lot of those places are pretty good too and I enjoy the ability of being able to visit them and have a chat or a joke with the other members of the sites. I expect that most of the members here are also members of other forums just like myself and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. I feel comfortable enough to visit those forums without feeling obligated to leave a message every-time I visit or download from my favourite uploader. I do however like the idea of the thanks button that is available on this site, its a pretty quick and painless method to show appreciation for a download or whatever and when you are tired, cant think what to say or just pushed for time, it is a spot on solution and gives the respect due.

I must admit that virtually all the places where I am a member, did have a minimum posting rule when I joined, that isn't so much a problem but as mentioned in this thread, it just leads to a lot of clutter as newbies to a site like I am to this one, have not settled in yet and have no real idea what is really expected or what they can or can not say without offending other folk.

As I also mentioned in another post, this is a pretty easy going forum, there are a few places that rigidly enforce the rules for trivial mistakes, the impression that I have gained from posts here, is that the Mods etc use a little common sense and are not put out too much if they need to tidy the content of a post or move it to the right location if need be. I also know that I have made the odd minor mistake along the way and probably will again so it is good to know that if an incident happened, it would be dealt with in a friendly and professional manner.

very necky indeed (haha did make me chuckle to be honest).

Probably better these type's of people get what they want and leave. Dont take it personal guys, there are leachers in all walks of life. At least this guy was up front, and he's lost out on any future help he may require. Just my 2p worth.

Thanks Guvnor
