Tought that milage is in 24C34 ?? It's in NEC too ?? Customer changed Micronas dash to VDO and I dont know why but it can't be done by OBD even on table (I am 4th guy heh). What can I do to change milage by original one ??

Maybe someone did something in eeprom and now it can't be done by OBD. It starts, get authorisation but doesn't read eeprom.

880G is not 24C32 , is a 24C64

Are You sure? I desoldered and read 24c32. WTF??

amigokola

But can You tell me is milage only in eeprom?? If so can someone edit eeprom for me with 200kkm?

As i say, only OBD. It is NEC dash with 24C32

amigokola
15th March, 2016, 08:04 AM
So the milage is in 24C32 and in NEC it cant be done only by eeprom editing ??

3C8 920 880 G is 24C32.
Mileage is stored crypted in eeprom, so can only be changed by OBD.

I will put your eeprom in SL7 later.
Then you should be able to change mileage with your tools.

Hi H2Deetoo,

Is it the same way to 880F? The mileage is stored at eeprom? You managed a dump to
me and I'm going to test it today with AVDI. But a guy tried use dash tool and we got a issue of S-Key, so no authorization to write new mileage.

Thanks

Andre

Hi,

It's an older thread but perfect for my question. Recently I aquired 3C8920880G cluster which should have around 30k km on it. I want it to adjust it to my current situation which is 200k km. I'm im process of learning what needs to be done. Reading this thread i see milege is stored in eeprom which is 24C32. Is it possible to read eeprom without opening a cluster or it needs to be opened and desoldered? The original sticker is on it and to open I need to cut it so I still didn't do it.

Thank for any info.

You must read eeprom and post here dump. We will prepare it so you can do whatever you want by obd.

To read eeprom i need to open it and desolder the eeprom and then use some kind of reader or that can be done by obd?

I'll find someone to take off the eeprom. Do you recommend some kind of cheap reader for that? Also what tool is to be used to correct milage when the modified eeprom is back?

You don't necessarily need to desolder eeprom.
If you have a suitable programmer you can read it in-circuit.

H2Deetoo

If you want to correct mileage using OBD you still need some tool for it.
However in this case (increasing mileage) it can be done by eeprom alone. Post your dump and I'll set mileage.

So if I got this right, the steps are like this:

1. read eeprom with programmer directly on board or by desoldering (depends on the programmer)
2. Send the dump to you
3. You decrypt the dump and give it back - in this stage mileage is still not changed
4. Put the new decrypted dump back to eeprom
5. Mount the dashboard and use OBD tool to change milage on new decrypted dashboard

Is that correct? If so, which obd tools are recommended?

EDIT: I didn't read last post. Milage, for my case, can be set during dump decryption.

Thanks for helping. I'm still waiting for adapter to connect the dashboard and see if it's actually working :)

In the meantime is ther some cheap programmer that I can buy to read the eeprom without desoldering it?

H2Deetoo

Not quite correct.
There is no decryption involved in this case.

3) I insert correct mileage in your dump
4) Put eeprom back
5) Mount dashboard and all is OK

Oh, so simple.

Ok, i'll make sure to get the dump. So it is eeprom type 24C32 for which i'm looking programmer?

Yes but any programmer which can do 24c32 can also do 24c64

Hi, it's been a long time, my project almost stoppped but now I'm at it. So the cluster goes in. Can you please tell me if those two tools will be enough to read and write eeprom without desoldering?

Thank you.

Thank you! It works perfect. I had difficult time to write the eeprom because there are no instructions how to connect chip to the socket but with many trial and error I finally managed. I even thought that I burnt the chip.

If you would have that cluster upgraded to SW02xx (up to SW05xx) then you can choose different logo's but you will lose comfort and light&sight menu (if you're driving a 3C/B6 Passat).

I have a Passat CC color Dis cluster with PN 3C8 920 880 G and I need to correct VIN and mileage on eeprom.
Here is the eeprom dump:
https://mega.nz/file/7B01jQ7J#nA-LtEh04Lr9hdSVAlaSi5LKQ8-TXAi2RZGbxQFpMiQ

The VIN to store is: WVWZZZ3CZAE506766
the mileage to store is : 69000 km

Some one can help me?

Thank you in advance!

H2Deetoo

There is no VIN (nor immo) in Passat clusters.
Also you cannot lower mileage by eeprom only, it must be done by OBD.

Thank you for your answer!

Yes, I have done some research after the post and I was able to set the mileage to the value I wanted!

The trick is just o put the cluster in service mode and then it allows to change the mileage even to a lower value.

I used AVDI do make this changes and it worked very well!
