Can my kess read/write volvo xc90 2.4d 163 hp, edc16c31 by obd?
And how it is safe? there can be unexpected problems?
don't have experience with volvo....
Kess is china clone reworked.

In volvo inside OBD plug not K-line in 90% cars!
That ecus remap via K-line!
You must take out ECU and remap at table.

For sure, edc16c31 not in obd, only in table, or connect direc kline to ecu, with car plugged in the car.
And not all ecus posible.

Volvo 163 HP is edc15 or edc16, if edc15 I always desolder 29f400, mod and solder, because I tried many times and always read not problem but write never, if edc16 it's enaugh push the needle in 43 pin and connect k-line

i use to do them by bdm, which is very risky...

I build connector from old engine wirring for that ECU so read and write takes max 2 min :) that is pinout- works 101%!

our ecu edc15 and edc16 in Volvo you read and write on table, I do Volvo and never open ecu, never....

l had one in today kessv2 wouldnt read it with the right cable going to kline and power+earth kess was showing 3v ?

tried kess on obd on golf and works fine .. its a eu clone

What is the problem with removing the ECU on the table and connect the pins for it?
after what you make life difficult?
Oryginal Kess v2 reading this without any problem, whether it's XC90 or s60, s80 and Galletto or MPPS EU to ...

The OBD connector in Volvo has no K-line and the fastest way is to read and write this ECU is take it on the table, connect pins and working on it

my pin out pictures didnt show them just 5 power 6 earth then small power and kline and when connected 12 on supply dropped to 5v

My and Your Pinout is the same, but two 12v pins less on your diagram.
I always connect ECU with my pin-out and works 100%
If ECU atart communication only at two 12v, I think another is not needed

EDIT: ground pin is ok , just in case, take the electric meter and check for transition!

Yes , the free connector on the ODB cable is connected to the KESS Kline, and you can use the blue cable to connect it on the ECU connector pin 43.
