got 07 q7 4.2 with bad ecm and key stuck in ignition. engine cranks and starts but dies right away. no communication with any module except ecm, and even ecm communication is very limited.
trying to figure out how to proceed next. vehicle doesn't have little hole next to key like some euro ones, to get key out.

If the voltage is low! This could explain some bad communication.
I assume that the automatic gearbox is in the park position.

Charge car, activate hazard lights, and read and clear all dtcs.
Looks like a the car does not see the gearbox.

i got battery charged, it dint help, same thing key stuck. ecm is bad due to water, it was known from beginning.
but right now i have every module in some kind of sleeping mode, and can't wake anything up, except edu. cluster is black navi screen is black looks like nothing responding to diagnostics except ecu. i can turn key on and off, i can crank engine and it starts and dies right away. if i disconnect battery and reconnect nothing changes.
it looks like i need to turn key off all the way and turn it back on to wake modules up, but i can't. activating hazard light or bright lights or both doesn't help because nothing works.
anybody knows any other way to wake modules up?

Disconnect ECU , then try to turn key on and see what happens.
If ECU has water in it , it will mess up Can_BUS and cause problem that you have.

Also possible water get in Can Gateway module.

have you tried jumping power to fuses?

what modules you are trying to wake up? I think this year Audi Q7 can power cluster by jump power in fuse box.

Hello.
no Dear friend, this is not same as vw touareg or Porsche cayenne, the audi Q7 dash wake up by can bus from getaway module by EZS order, i think (nicolasd) must try re-adapt the remote key to ezs to release the remote from stuck in ignition.

i did try to turn key on with disconnected ECU, same problem, tried to remove fuse for cluster and put it back i can hear a click inside but it doesn't wake up. all fuses good and all got power. it looks like every module has power but without command from gateway or whatever module controls everything they all stay asleep.
how i can re adapt key if i can't communicate with anything.
anybody knows how difficult to remove EZS, looks like whole dash has to come out

Thanks for explaining, i thought the Q7 was same platform as Touareg or Cayenne. Admittedly I never have done work with keys on Q7 until now. Only Touareg. I just remember from my custom stereo days that I did some headrest TV's in both cars and was very similar. Is it same chassis and different electrical?

A nightmare mate ... sorry

Not the ignition switch ... the steering lock is ..:puke:

Lower Dash panel and cluster panel and cd player .. all to get to the three screws that hold the ignition switch in

would like to update on my little problem. I got a used ecu with immo off installed. Vehicle started right up and was running fine but at the same time every module was staying asleep, nothing was working.
then i unplugged and plugged back gateway module under steering wheel and everything woke up. was kinda an easy fix)))

so my little conclusion here: key is not released by ignition switch due to the absence of a command from steering lock. Which in its turn does not lock because of the network failing asleep. The reason for this could be a weak battery, but it is not certain however.

So you were able to shut down the car by turning the ignition key back to off?
Everything is fine now?
