Daughter snapped a hinge on her laptop, and when i stripped it down i noticed the other hinge is cracked ( ready to snap ).

This is the hinge that opens the screen(lid) .

Its a TOSHIBA EQUIUM A80-132 .

Ive been on Ask.co.uk. and Google and cant find anywhere to buy a pair.

there seems to be different hinges for each version of lappy ( why dont they make the standard ).

Can anyone help me find somewhere who sells them please, i dont want to take it to a shop for repair or send it off, when i can fit them myself.

Thanks in advance.

the A80 dont seem very popular when it comes to parts ,this is the closest i could find i know its not your exact model but shows a picture of the hinges at least

TOSHIBA EQUIUM M50 SCREEN LID HINGES on eBay, also, Screens LCD Panels, Laptop Accessories, Computing (end time 12-Jul-08 21:24:59 BST) (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TOSHIBA-EQUIUM-M50-SCREEN-LID-HINGES_W0QQitemZ140224426430QQcmdZViewItem?hash=it em140224426430&_trksid=p3286.m14.l1318)

what about sending a few emails to anywhere that does laptop repaires and spares ....good luck m8

Thanks for looking for me mate, i had a look on ebay and sent out a few emails to ebay shops who sell these sort of things.

the pic of the link looks very similar to the ones i want but a tab is on opposite side of hinge to the one i want.

here is a pic of mine , that i want a pair of.

Here we are a week later, loads of hours spent trying to contact suppliers, and endless hours me and mate , investigating, and keep checking ebay.

I managed to get hold of a toshiba parts company ( part of Toshiba ).

They are sending me a pair of hinges out on Monday.

Cost ?16.99 each + VAT, works out ?42

So if anyone out there has a Toshiba Laptop go easy on the hinges , they are possibly the weakest hinges on laptops.

Thanks a lot Napster for the continuous help trying to find some way of repairing them and getting spare parts.

Yo bud, contact these people, I know them well ( I built their network for them some years back). they know everything there is to do with laptops and fix them for most insurance companies, there customers range from the whoes who of companies and private individuals. They hold a massive stock of spare for all sorts of laptops and know how to fix them down to component level on the mainboard.
