Hi

Havin trouble with said box as you can probably tell from my posts in other threads!!!

As a last resort........

Is there a manufacturers original software to get box to factory settings? If so is this downloaded in rs232 format and where can it be found?

Many thanks
Dave

doing a factory reset will get the box back to factory settings no firmware to do this you will need to remove firmware to get it to the that point
but that will not get your channels back m8
are you uk or irl

I've tried the downloads on that link, the ony one I can't is http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads.php?do=file&id=464&act=down

which says the file link requested is not valid

It is suppose to have the firmware and downloader!

Hi

Yes I have tried a few things

I have followed the threads, and read them and read them and read them. I have tried many things.

Regarding that particular thread I have read it a few times and also pm'd Dell a few times and he has come back with a lot of useful info.

Don't know now what to do, maybe there is a very stupid simple solution but I can not put my fnger on it.

The scrap yard is looking good.

I have a eurovox ex1000sl working well i another room.

cheers

Don't know how but I have THE BOX logo back on screen!

Can't load channels still though, still saying level 00% and quality 00%

I have just loaded bin file TheBoxPVR_v3105_08Dec2008 via PVR_v4.01_Jul_11_2007 loader

This has returned my "THE BOX" screen logo but alas no channels!

Cheers

is this how you have loaded firmware

connect your box to PC via null modem cable (and usb adaptor if you need to use one)
follow the serial download instructions until you get B-30 or B-31 (ready to download message) on front panel
run the PVR loader
click on the browse button which will open an explorer window
browse to your firmware file and click on it, then click on the open button and this will load the file to the loader
in FILE TYPE select App file only
in device manager check that your com port (or usb adaptor) is set to the same serial port as the loader then hit the download button

Hi

Yes it is.....is that a good thing or bad thing?

Done everything I can think of, at least I have "The Box" logo back on screen.....BUT no channels, search and level 00%, quality 00%

Could it be anything to do with the loop incorrect? What is the correct loop? Cable Loop 1 output to Cable Loop 2 Input or other way?

Cheers

the latest file is 21/12/2008.bin
also out of curiousity where did you get the pvr 4.01 loader

I have never seen one of these boxes so can only guess that loop out from 1 goes to loop in of 2
is it possible to have a splitter where the cable feed is split and one goes to one tuner and the other to the other tuner.

I wasn't referring to splitting the feed to another box I was on about splitting it to the 2 different tuners on your PVR dual tuner box

yeah, aerial inputs are marked like this, looking from the back:

'tuner 1 output' ..... 'tuner 1 input'

tuner 2 output' ..... 'tuner 2 input'

Mine is into tuner 1 input, top right, looped out of tuner 1 output into tuner 2 input.

Been ages since I 'sorted' my box, so I can't see where you're going wrong.

reading through the thread where the latest update is some people did find it buggy so for you it may be worth going back to the earlier one

Hi

I have gone back to the older one.

The box now does everything, switches on and off - However the channels won't load. I have no channels on this box.

I have tried another box on the cable which works fine.
I have tried many different settings to try to download channels but with no success!

Could the built in receiver be duff - The box was working well untll power cut which lost everything!

SETUP - main cable goes to input 1?loop goes from output 1 to input 2?no adapter required other than those in the box. We advise you that you use a Splitter kit and feed both cables into the PVR - This will avoid any picture freezing/tuner problems.

STARVIEW PVR STARTERS GUIDE

To Start With :
Before doing a scan Goto Menu / Installation and make sure the (Cable Network Option) top item is set to your local provider if not correct it by using the right / Left arrow keys on your remote, then move down to Autoscan and wait till it has finished.

If channels not clearing go to Menu / System Setup / Press ok with Parental Control highlighted then press info then 2007, this should put you in the CAS SYSTEM. (May need to do this a couple of times quite slowly to get into CAS SYSTEM)
With Nagravision 2 highlighted Press ok?On the Provider ID Line select your provider by using the left / right arrow buttons on remote then press ok, wait for it to save then press exit. (Your provider needs to be the same as the one you selected in Cable Network Option above.
Finally make sure the emu Autoupdate is On (Bottom Item in Cas System.) Go to a scrambled channel and wait a while to clear?.hope this help's you

maybe you got a slight power surge b4 the power cut or after it..and the box is damaged.

wolves4eva
25th August, 2009, 10:08 PM
Thats along the line of what I was thinking

I am gonna try different firmware with different loaders.

I am only able to do this with rs232 cable as the usb option isn't recognised on my computer, I think the usb on the box is dead.....any way of fixing this or checking for sure?

So.... What was it in the end? Did you put your finger on it? Metaphorically speaking.

Hi

It is strange how you miss the obvious in front of you, which only seems odvious after the problem has been solved!!!

I put my cable service into the cable service next to aerial.

Lookink back and again checking with Dell - He told me to put it into the connection next to the loop.....works now.

Have gone back over 90% of posts this morning which say a similar thing BUT it just did not hit me to do this part.

It all works fine now

Thanks again to all
Dave
