Hi all,

A few of question

I have recently bought an SBB V33.02 (on flea bay) but am been told their are lots of fakes about is their an easy way can you tell if its a fake?
I've use it on my kia sorento and added some new keys and deleted some old ones, all worked fine.

My other question is when i took the back off the SBB i noticed there are some components missing from the main PCB, these are the serial chip LT1133, smart card holder and the PCB battery, also the 9 way d sub has no connections to it. If i added these parts would i be able to use the wintransfer program to change firmware versions?

Thanks

Hi, I've manage to answer all of my own questions plus a bit more.
After trawling round this site (and net) for a few hours most of what i was looking for was their back in 2010/11 so old ground (didn't realize these SBB had been going that long)

Anyways here what i found / did :

1) If your Silca SBB's got s/n 1100221131017 and got Tawian embossed on the back case it's pretty certain its a fake (seen hundreds all over the net with the same serial).
2) Fitted a serial coms chip and d socked then made the big mistake of trying to update it from V33.02 to V34 via silcas wintransfere program. All it did was totally F***k it up so don't do it. You just end up with a very sick machine :apologetic:
3) Got so fed up of un soldering U3 & U4 off the main pcb to reflash them with different bin files i found on this site. I took the step of making a remote flash module that would just plug into the board and my programmer - made life so much easier (plus most of mySBB's TSOP 48 pads were about to fall off).
4) Re flashed it with V33.01 seems to have a couple more menus than the original V33.02 (still testing what they are) but on the face of it looks better.
5) Had a weird issue since loading V33.01 when you power up the unit you get the boot loader screen the one before the Silca key screen then all goes blank?? i can seen the units running as all relays click the same and 2 internal leds are flashing like made as when it normally boots. What i found is if you hold the up/down arrows down together when booting it boots as normal?? must just slow something down long enough to boot properly. When running unit works fine.

Hope any of my findings/rambling is of any use :):):):)
