someone have good suggestion for a hot air and soldering pencil station.

Portable buy some of Hakko copies or Quick , they are cheap and solid quality for field work. For workshop is better to buy good brand like ERSA,WELLER,PACE,DENNON,HAKKO and so on.....

When Eric retired recently, he very kindly gave me his soldering iron (pictured). As of today, using it, I have only wrecked about 35% of the dashboards I have worked on which leads me to believe this tool is the way forward. Arthur.

Hakko 888 (Not the D model),

858D+ hot air station, (They are all clones, so just pick your favorite)

These 2 will let you do anything you need,

Yes, that is correct, I kept the older model as I don't do much precision soldering now.
I thought this precision instrument needed to go to someone with the necessary skills to use it.

Arthur is asking if I still use my stereo microscope, but it may be a bit big for his workbench.


If anyone is interested in obtaining a similar tool, they are still available although stocks are low,

from Tam, either by post directly or via his English sales agent meathead.

The model name is "Old Reliable" [just like Tam]
