VW TRANSPORTER T5 7H0920850R VDO how to read immo ?

Hi guys,


I got a request to upgrade VW T5 to a color cluster.
But first I need to read immo from the original cluster: 7H0920850R VDO

Does anybody know which tools can be used?
(Can it be done by eeprom read or must it be OBD read?)

Not possible 7H0920850R is T5.1 old one with K-Line
Color display just possible on T5.2 with BCM

I thought that all k-line clusters had partnr xxx 919 xxx ?

Partialy true.
Dashboard has CAN but just between ECU, ABS and airbag.
K-Line is used for diagnostic.

But UDS dash will not work in T5.1
T5.1 HW is like Golf 4. T5.2 is like Golf 6.

Let me rephrase my question now: Customer simply wants to replace this cluster with one that does have some MFA menu.
Is it possible to replace this cluster with one that has some MFA?

yes offcourse but use one from same generation

There are 3 types of clusters:

7H0920850... without board computer
7H0920860... with board computer at minidot
7H0920870... with board computer at maxidot

You can fine the one that you need with part number
