1.6xep.petrol. 2005 reg, astra h. non runner. car will not start. no faults in diag. only problem I can find is injector pulse fires once only on crank until ign is turned off then cranked again then one pulse again. fuel pump running and spark plugs all firing. no faults in immo,or rest of car. communication to all modules, engine, cim etc. new battery, all earths fine, had ecu checked all fine, changed ecu just in case, but still the same, crank sensor changed. engine rpm looks fine when cranking. any help would be superb. thanks

if you had some easy start give it a squirt to see if you get a reaction of trying to start, presume the crank was the lower one and not the cam if fitted.

Check timing and throttle...engine compression

Disconnect egr valve first ,sometimes they stick open allowing exhaust gas into inlet manifold car runs for a second then cuts out, then check for oil in ecu plugs

It does fire briefly off the one injector pulse, but then totally stops until ignition off for a few seconds then does same again. Timing checked, plugs ok and firing and keep firing on crank. Would cam sensor cause this problem, thanks for help

How odd, hope you fix it, try easy start, if not push off
or under hood fusebox, think ecu gives neg out, fusebox swutches pos to relay

Yes it could. Don't know this specific car, but cam sensor looks like three wire hall effect. Should be 5V supply, ground, and signal. Check for good 5V supply and ground when cranking, then turn engine slowly with the key on and you should see it switch from zero volts to 5V as the windows pass the sensor.

Good explanation in this video on testing hall effects, this is for a Jeep, but the principle is the same.
