Hello,

car is Mini R56, 2006
DME died,
used DME was bought, and ISN from DME was written to CAS,

Car starts and runs fine,

but there is ABS/DSC light on the dash,
error is DSC module is not coded,

I've flashed DSC fine, and changed VIN code to new DME vin code and then back to original,
it shows up in inpa UIF

when i try to code it in ncsexpert i get error "control unit not responding"

I've checked FA, and it has correct ($214) option which is for ABS/ASC
all other modules are getting coded fine,

I've tried with ISTA/P, but got communication error (with module)

by VIN code, car is produced in 12/06, but whenever i try to change it in NCSexpert FA, keep getting:

Original VIN Code is: TL83125
Vin code of new DME is: TL84995

Daten is 55

I've tried coding thru CAS and FRM, same result

thanks in advance!

What was wrong with the old one?
Done one recently where the fault was in the valve block, kept the old electronics and swapped the valve block so no coding needed. (Easy to do)
Fault was one wheel wouldn't bleed.

Thru CAS and FRM you are doing VO/FA coding, go to DSC and check it's coding first. Maybe you will have to flash it first , sometimes just coding is not accepted first time.

DSC block has not been changed, only DME was changed as old one died.

Thanks, but as described in first post, there is problem of coding DSC itself, as you see in picture it says DSC unit not responding,
i have also written in the first post that DSC can be flashed

Do you have tamper dot in dash? I had problem with one E90 and DSC coding, it was not possible to do it until I changed VIN in all modules to match.

hmm, i have not paid attention if there is a dot..
what error were you receiving? unit not responding or Vin Faulty?
usually when its caused by different VIN it says "Vin Faulty"

im thinking,

maybe DSC unit is fine itself,
maybe it is DSC Sensor, they have F_CAN network,
and its the DSC_Sensor not responding and can not be coded overall,

that would explain why i can see DSC unit fine in UIF and flash it successfully

i dont have enough knowladge to understand which network is used when car is coded or flashed,
is it PT_CAN through JBBF?

Im updating thread as everything was tried to make it work, last one was replacing the DSC unit. I've got same result,

Shortly facts:
1) I can flash DSC module with WinKFP
2) I can get in module with INPA, read errors (see pic)
3) It has error "Coding missing"
4) When i try to code with NCSExpert, i got error "ecu not responding" (see pic)
5) when I try to change date of prod in NCSExpert i get error (see pic)

any input will be very much appreciated!

I've checked VO to the options list by VIN code, everything is correct.
this Unit is ASC unit, so it has option 214 (should be like this by VIN as well)

have you tried to get 214 out of fa, just to see if is there any chance to code the unit? did you flashed dde to change vin number? changing isn is just for starting the car. can you read coding from dsc? try to sg_code without man file . for me sometimes this is the only way a module codes.

also check vin in all modules with tool32. most units stores vin in 2 or 3 places and programming is not enought to write it up in all places.

ps:also update sp daten with bmw coding tool. i did get some issues because of this. if you will see anything other then 'remain' when updating most likely you are missing some files or some are corrupted.

thanks for very good tips, I did not think about it, spdaten is 55, imported with bmw coding tool

any idea why would not it be allowing me to change prod.date in VO?
