BMW e46 320d 110kW, EDC16 - weird ffffffff and yyyyyyyyyyyy error!

Hi!

This is the first time this has happened, and I've read-written a number of cars. I'm using MPPS v13.02

This is the information I'm getting when ID-ing the ECU after flashing the tune:

When the stock software is on it, it shows "BMW ECU Type" as EDC16C/C, but the VIN and software ID are broken then too.
I was able to read the stock file normally but writing the tune makes it go crazy and the car doesn't start. The dash looks like this with the tune on it (just like while flashing):

So, I need ideas on what could be wrong with the car, since the same cable and software were used after this to successfully flash my own car which has exactly the same ECU.

Checksum not fine! A 100% sure about this.
All EDC16 bmw's have issue with temp showing 110 degrees and no start when checksum not correct.
Correct the chekcsum of the file or post it here for correction.
Other possible reason is a different software number. Had that issue also.
Post the ORI file here and also the mod one :)

mpps and bmw this is not good on edc 16 some work some not you must use bdm

i dont think that you can repair over obd you can test with byteshooter or cmd

or test to write with recovery mode in mpps ori back

No no, the ORI can be flashed back to it just fine, in normal mode and the car works. It's just the MOD file that makes the temp gauge go to max and the car does not start. MPPS should automatically do checksum so I'm a bit doubtful, but will check.

The software is exactly the one that came from the car, just tuned for some extra power.

I told you already, forget about recovering and stuff, just do the checksum with WinOLS and then upload the file to the car. MPPS shows "Checksum corrected by the program" for this ECU, but BELIEVE me, it doesn't. I have the same car, same ECU, same problems before ;)

Post here mod file i will correct checksum for you and i will tell you if checksum was not corected, mpps is not good tool for edc 16 better fgtech v54 or kess

It was not the checksum fault sadly :(
Also I don't have access to any other interface at the moment, only this cable...

I found another forum where people were saying this issue is caused by the ECU being locked due to incorrect flashing in the past. We will try another ECU, I think.

Do you have a simple K-line interface?
If yes, do update with WinKFP.

Yes I do. Would a flash to the same zB be enough to test? Since I'm pretty sure the latest one is on there so nothing newer to update to...

Yes you can rewrite the same one.

Yes, is enough, this will program the VIN, ID, checksum etc.

Now it displays everything correctly.

However the issue now is, the (bought) tuning file is based on the old, broken ORI and when I flash it, the same problem returns...
Do I really have to have the new ORI tuned from the beginning, or is it possible to easily transfer the changes from the tuned one to it?

No problem with both methods...
The real problem is - how you manage to flash the new mod?

MPPS succeeds in flashing the mod, but it has to be remade I'm afraid. I don't see why it shouldn't be able to flash the new one...?

Since the pictures show what the car was like BEFORE I used my MPPS to read the ORI. Someone has probably tried to flash something unsuccessfully to the car before me.

Now after I flashed the stock file with WinKFP, everything is back to normal (VIN, ECU Type, BMW software number), but the MOD has to be made again based on the current software as it seems to be broken (because it was based on the broken software that was on there at the start).
