Volkswagen IPOD adaptor

Just bought 2006 passat with RCD300 radio CD. It seems this is the early version which does not play MP3 CDs. Anyone recommend an IPOD adaptor which works well with this unit? I would like to controlthe IPOd from the radio controls so a simple AUX in is not suitable. Thanks for your help.

Make sure it will work properly. I had an I-pod adapter for a 57 Audi and it wouldn't display the artist or track names, only numbers. So unless you can remember where in the 3,000 songs is that you want it's of limited use. If this is the case, use the money to buy a new stereo.

i`ve seen that in an audi tt but replaced the gateway 300 with one with the latest firmware and it displayed it all on the display between the clocks
