It is *not* possible to put a NEC 24C64 cluster in service mode by eeprom!
(Only 24C32 clusters can be done like that.)
You can however 'damage' immo in 24C64 eeprom so that you can access it with tools using OBD, when you don't have the matching car keys.

The link you give is dead :(
But I think this link is about 'corrupting' immo data so that you can try to access cluster using OBD.
In my opinion this is not the same as putting in service mode (as is possible for 24C32 clusters).

When you say "put cluster in service mode" -> You mean write FF's to eeprom area 13A0-144F ?
This is not service mode! This is corrupting immo area. These are 2 different things my friend.
But forget this discussion .. it is just which words are used

Hello.
1) i don't know why you still continue write about this point? i load to you this pic to see by your self what show in second menu of avdi (Nec micro) (enter service mode by ConfData damp 24c32/24c64), so if the manual of avdi is wrong called 24c64 put it in service mode, and you (called) must be corrupting immo area , so try send them email to abrites.& tell him to correct the massage of them manual.
2) i understand to you well, but which i wont to say is about when is lost the keys, we can put the eeprom 24c64 in service mode and after write back the original eeprom by obd2 to be ready do dealer key or any ...... but if you want to called for this job (corrupting immo area) or xxxx so no problem my friend you can say how you wish.

@haroution what H2Deetoo says is right. Service mode by dump is not possible. If you do it with AVDI there come also this Message ;) you only corrup the immo data and put it in S-Mode by OBD.

Hello.
1) i think there is small something misunderstand between me and you, maybe i don't have the example to give my mind,my idea is if some one load here his dump 24c64,same as our friend (eltiobarbas (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php?u=110736)),so here he must write who can put ('corrupting' my immo data )? or who can put (service mode my immo data)?. this is my idea wont to tell here. our friend (eltiobarbas (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php?u=110736)) he request service mode and i reply to him a dump, and in post #11 he reply with positive result.

I am trying to change km and it is giving me an error 'security access fail'

I have working keys.
Can you help me resolve this?
Thank you.

If you have working keys, then it seems your tool doesn't support this cluster.
You can try to patch the eeprom (destroy immo) and test again just to make sure, but I doubt it ...

If i destroyed Immo and restored the original file via obd, i hope it wont create any problem for my working keys?
Will it be ok?
H2Deetoo

When you write back ORIG eeprom then all is OK again, so it's no problem to try what I suggested.
(But as I said I doubt it will make a difference ...)

Thank you for your support.
I will try what you said.
Can you tell me how to put nec+24c32 into service mode.
Is there any code?
Thank you.

I already tried that with this cluster, when powering it back up, it no longer complains about the lack of key and goes to general cluster errors (as I'm using a bench loom), so this is similar behaviour to a MK5 Golf cluster with immo data wiped, however, when trying to access it, I can't, as it's not in service mode. It merely has corrupted/wiped immo data but still isn't set to service mode.

Then either your tool is faulty or doesn't support this version, simple.
It is b/w SW1007. So you need VAG2015+ option/license/feature or whatever they call it for your tool.
