Hi all,

First actual post. I have acquired an ATWS in a joblot of parts hoping to be able to recover the code and keep it as a spare unit and to play around with.

I was able to read the EEPROM contents,a 93C56B and have tried several numbers that could have been the code but have failed. I think that I got locked outside the unit after trying 3-4 times but then reflashed the eeprom and it was all good after that. I was using OPCOM to enter the security code on a bench with an external 12v power supply. I read/write the memory using a pickit.

There seem to be a lot of people who know a lot of stuff so any help would be good. Any info on where the code is stored, which memory location, etc.

Cheers.

for astra G you can read pin from ecu eeprom or immo box only

Hi bajad, are you 100% certain ?

I have read the 93c46b from my original alarm box (atws) and I was able to find the code inside the .bin file contents. The thing is, there are two different versions; one uses a 1kbit eeprom (93c46b) and the other one a 2kbit eeprom (93c56b) and this is why I am asking. Unless the code I was able to verify with my original box was just a coincidence (mind you I already new the code). I was also under the impression one could read the code from the instrument clusters as well.

I was able to find some posts arounf here suggesting that it was possible.

Thanks again.

I tried to explain the process quickly on this forum:

http://www.astraownersclub.com/vb/showthread.php/761915-How-to-read-alarm-eeprom/page3?highlight=alarm+eeprom

but I guess you already know about the process if you are posting in here !

Anyway it was a brute force attempt, I am sure things have gotten a bit smarter since then but cannot be far off.
