what temperature should i have the hot blower at to remove a chip from a board without damaging it? i have searched but have gotten many answers

Set it for about 350c mate...you should be okay with that...

And don't forget...keep the nozzle moving !!!

i agree with johnner, I use 320-350 on a low air speed so I dont blow components off the board

That depends, if 93c or 24c, 24c more higher temperature and time ... more problem, gnd 4 legs

I go hot and fast .. 450 ... then catch it with the tweezers when it flies off lol

I usually go 315-325 with low air velocity

Will check my portasol gas one Monday, on full its does it in know time , board looks fine after tho

what about everyone takes such a patch to fix, the wind on the temperature on the rotation of the Earth, and shelled, azimuth, that is, each has a set at each other

... If your using a half decent hot air station, 350 is 350 independent of the airflow.

Still i have my 858D set to 330, and it has been there for the past 8 months, only adjusting the airflow based on the size of the part, and how impatient i am on a given day,

E.g. Msop part, all the way to 1, a normal SOIC, 3-4, and a motorola QFP, 7, and a dip with double sided soldering, 10 (really need a desoldering iron)
