Hi!
I'm on the way to upgrade some of my tool's and I thinking to buy some sort of ECU programmer tool.
I'm repair in most of time car electronic of car type VAG, Opel, Peugeot, Renault.
Can I use let's say a chip tuning tool which have a flash and eeprom read/write function to
read the old flash end eeprom from the old faulty ecu and write the data to the new but used ecu back?
etc...
I'm thinking in some sort of KWP2000 or V54 FGTech Galletto 4 or what is your suggestion pls.
Any suggestion about what programmer is worth the money and will do the job would be great.
I also checked on the internet too but I wish to hear from you peoples what you use and
what is the case in real world wit that tools.
Thank you very much.
My best regards.

Thank's for your reply, for reading external eeprom I use my beeprog programator. As I figured out all the new and old eeproms are covered by my programming device.
But I have to access the eeprom directly and have no option to read it through the obd connector.
Actually as I figured out from the Internet and Forums does the safest way to r/w the firmware of the ecu is through the jtag port of the pcb or as is called DBM or whatever. ..
What would you pros suggest to buy as a first tool?
Maybe galletto or ktag or kwp2000?
If I'm right all devices who can r/w the flach of the uC of the ECU can be used for tuning purpose, ok let's say almost all. ..
Many thanks for advice.
I'm new in this buy with many experience in other but similar field of electronic.

Hello as a first tool galletto v54 is a good tool, it's easy to use and adaptaded for your car's brand. You can do obd, bdm, boot mode, jtag mode and others pin out mode

How do can I lets say recover an ECU firmware if that is bricked for some reason and I have no original firmware for that ECU?
What is actually a correct way to become a firmware for this ECU?
I speak in general about the ECU right now.
I repaired over 15 years gsm phones and I have a lot of flashing tools with support and on the support site I can download original firmware for
the phone I flashing or have to update the firmware or some calibration files etc.
From where can I get these firmware for an ECU?
Thanks.

I think CarProg is a nice tool and a must have tool in modern
car electronic repairing garage, but this tool is not for ECU programming.
I mean, it can handle several models of Motorola uC's whic are mostly in
IMMO, dash, car audio equipment etc. but nothing to do with car ECU.
CarProg is a very heavy eeprom programmer I assume from the description
and they r/w the eeprom content from the dash through DLC port or incircuit which is very handy.
I have a very strong eeprom programmer and a nice Motorola uC programmer which
I used for other electronic programming but I will buy one full CarProg device.
Thank's for your time.
