multitronic ecu failure

hi checked out wiring from the ecu with a scope and no output is being given out from both channels hence why so many issues with the car (no PRNDS lights other ecus not picking up etc etc )
ecu been oped up and no visable cables snapped
how specific would i have to be in getting a replacement ecu from scrappies and trying it in the car then reflashing and programming to suit
car is 2003 tdi and ecu is round plug type

Remove old TCM and see physical number HW and SW printed. Find another with same HW number and test communication before atemp any programming, if comm is ok and if have luck of find same SW number and no incompatible codes beetween ECU/TCM. If incompatible codes you need to reflash with proper SGO file.
