Guys,

After a freaking rear-end accident on my girls 2012 smart fortwo, we are now stuck with a Bosch Smart Highline GPS/Navigation system that is locked. We are the second owners of the car and have no idea what the first owner set the code to. I have no tools to dump the eeprom, all I have is the Model/Serial etc. So I am hoping someone can help find the factory code to get back into this unit.

Bosch Smart Highline Made by Blaupunkt
A 451 906 10 80
7 640 052 110 001
0004257

She is driving the car now without any sort of head unit/navigation. Any help is appreciated guys.

Can anyone point me to a good programmer to use on this eeprom while in circuit? So I can get a dump.

Unless someone can decode from the info above.

Any help is appreciated. Smart Center/Mercedez has been useless. Bosch Customer Service is never available and the closest Smart Center is a 4 hour drive. They said it would take an hour or so to reset this unit if we did drive there.

Just a quick note this unit is actually manufactured by Blaupunkt. Can anyone decode this unit using tools for Blaupunkt?

Mercedes/Smart claim they can unlock these units at their service centers. There has to be some method of unlocking them that doesn't require taking the unit apart to dump the eeprom. Especially if they are supposed to be able to unlock them at a service center by appointment etc.

I can try to disassemble the unit but I am worried I may break something while doing it.

have read my private mensaje?

mercedes not can unlock the unit, 100% sure, the code is set by the user, and not by serial from factory!!!

and friend the unit is build by bosch not blaupunkt

Bosch and Blaupunkt were the same until 2009. This unit has firmware containing Blaupunkt files and code. I just read that Bosch did manufacture the unit but it appears they just ripped off some old Blaupunkt code for it. So I guess in a way its made by both Bosch and Blaupunkt. Funnily enough it actually runs WinCE as the core system lol.

I know I need to dump the eeprom and write a fixed one back. I don't have tools or equipment to do it. I can't find any repair shops around here either. I may have to ship it to someone.

I want this unit back working so I can mess with WinCE on it and play with customization.

Here are photos of the top board. I can't get the board out. I hope someone can point out the eeprom and that it's on this side.

It is unlikely that there is. Try to find eeprom 95128

I had already read your message. The default factory code was changed by the previous owner. So I know I need to dump the eeprom.

Hopefully someone can identify the eeprom from the photos I posted. I may have time to try and tear down the unit further later this evening. I'm betting the eeprom will be labeled 95128 and it's on the back of the board.

Thanks, I actually managed to disassemble the entire unit about 30 minutes ago and found the EEPROM. Now I am just trying to find a programmer that will work for 95128 SPI EEPROM Chips. From what I am finding, I can read and flash these using a basic CH341A programmer. I am just trying to verify if that is true or not.

I haven't done any work on EEPROM/ATMEL chips in years. Once I found my tools I was able to finish disassembling this thing without breaking anything. Can someone point me to a programmer that will work. I am in the USA, so I am browsing Amazon right now.

I found a good CH341A Programmer and a good SOIC8 Clip with customizable pinout. I am buying them now. Once they arrive, I will dump the eeprom and post it here. Maybe I can finally get this unit fixed and back into the car. I want to play with the WinCE OS this thing is built on and see what I can tweak.

Can anyone identify Pin 1 for me from this photo. I am thinking top left corner should be one. However there is no identifying marks on this chip.

Everyone has been a great help. Now can anyone point me to a good software? I was thinking PonyProg but I want to see what other people are using.

Everything will depend on the programmer you use, if you buy the ch341 the ponyprog not work with that,

What software is good for the ch341? The ch341a is capable of programming 95128 spi eeprom right?

From everything I read. I can use a ch341a programmer to read and write to a 95128 SPI Eeprom.

I'm confused because I keep reading that the ch341a can flash 25xxx and 95xxx chips. Are you sure it cant?

I think I understand better. The CH341A can READ the 95128 but it cannot flash it. So I need a different one to actually be able to flash it. The other one I found on Amazon should be able to read and flash the 95128.

SangrelX
5th September, 2016, 02:08 AM
It appears the CH341A can read the M95128 using the following settings - 25 SPI Flash, ST, M25P128
This is read only and I cannot flash anything back to it.

So, I ordered the MiniPro from Amazon as it should be able to do both Read and Flash the M95128
