MPPS v18 GOOD OR NOT?

Hello mates,

I'm looking for MPPS V18. There are only 2 variants for the moment ORIGINAL and EURO CLONE.
Clone you can buy for 500EU and ORI for 2500EU.
What can you say about them? Someone use it?
Maybe this tool is crap?

The MPPS is a powerful programming tool. It offers general reading / writing operations and checksum support, however it also includes some additional features:

Excellent recovery functions. In some cases MPPS can recover ECU’s which others tools can not even make communications with. On certain controllers it even works when with no program is present (a blank memory).
Selectable full / partial reading and writing when the ECU allows this function.
Selectable reading / writing speed.
Writing “changes only” function for faster programming (when supported by the ECU).
Auto detection of K-Line/CAN, and option to bypass and force preferred means of communication.
Temporary bypass of immobiliser to allow flashing on the bench on ME7 systems.

Yes, that is what I'm talking about. Because EU clones is too much expensive for it's quality and impossibility to update.

I have used a MPPS v16 clone from china. Been using it on and off for the last year with no problems what so ever. MPPS v18 is good for VAG cars and Fiat 1.3 ddis engines.

One time my laptop shut off half way when I was writing a file on a EDC16 octavia 2. Restarted the laptop and used restore option to write original file back. Took 5 mins to write and was all ok.

In fact the clone MPPS works more reliably than the china clone KESS & KTag.

There is EU solution to v21 where you reflash the dump yourself after the counter and continue to use.
there is no update to v21 without counter yet

Not sure mate, just installed, to try sw, doesnt seem to be any folder full of info .... on ecu pins etc, You get standard v18 then Boot mode, and Multiboot mode.
Bit green on this so any Help appreciated, as no good other than OBD to me without relevant Boot, Multi Boot DATA,

Try to read in obd ( for example) iaw 5sf 8 or 9 in can line read mcu and eeprom and you have any idea if mpps function. Iaw is mutch complicated to read in Obd, try and report. Only I/O read.

As far as i know China mass produced All same, and ALL Clone same Serial LOL,,,, So same PCB as photo mentioned earlier, if you suceed post your findings on rework please, for others to learn. EU board very diffent from what i seen,

Think youll find as time goes on, China PCB as is now- Not saying its complete as is, but will become stripped by other china coppies trying to make max $$ profit, as always, copy copied many times, less complete, but brand sells so ok not complete pcb but we sell anyway, china METHOD

I was merely testing the MPPS, just Data area and Full, i being lazy chose DATA area,
I could have used Kess or Fgtech, maybe they have inj coding under Tools for Fiat maybe,,

Good info, did a bipper mjd8 13 reg other day and kess offers to save inj codes, however didnt lose them with MOD

Chose driver for inj code reading and will be fine inside selected car no any additional button, even in kess but there more work was made automatically without user knowledge.

Each dump is paired to eeprom ID same as v16 so even with dump it is useless, dump will only work if matching eeprom is on pcb, each eeprom have unique ID when manufactured

My MPPS V18 will not read the complete ECU. It only reads the iRom and what appears to be the data from EEPROM .. it will not access the DS, nor the TPROT area.

This is on the BMSX ECU ME17.2 from BMW S1000RR 2015/16 K46 with the TriCore 1797. Boot is under the edge of chip and very difficult to get to. http://www.evc.de/en/product/bsl/showEcu.asp?title=ME17.2

I need to read this whole chip and load it to another ECU. I will have the KTAG and KESS devices later today on UPS and hope that they will work on this ECU.

Any help is appreciated in reading this complete Flash and loading it to another ECU.

Yup.. got that KTAG in yesterday and read 2 BMSX ECU's .. that darn boot is a pain to get on. I cannot see that well and need 50x jewel glasses to see that pad :(

as bored today so was going to add new on/off and extra on/off to ign wire on mpps tricore cables , before that tried read and write on mpps on edc16u34 this time wrote and its flashed across in seconds and edc wouldnt read or write again , plugged kess into the tricore cables and recovered to the ecu , tried mpps again just incase and the same ?
not sure if it dosnt will flashing orig file back ? kess even let me recover using old mmps 2mb read

Had same problem with older mpps version, it corrupt eep for ford edc16c34. Do pcm reflash with ford ids and all will be ok. Later ive tried fgtech and it read/wrote without issues.

MPPS is renown for Issues on the Focus 1.6tdci Edc16 ecu, so much so i never ever tried, allways same story mpps.
Always used Fgtech on these, and no issues, i would BDM or use any tool other than MPPS whatever version,

i come back with news about edc16c34 ford...
the news is this MPPS a good tool.
mpps did not corrupt my eep, file that i was made it was bad, in my happines and stupidity i put into IQ maps, 65mg fuel without changing IQ limit, 60mg
i have write that file with galletto and same problem.
today i have write another file (good one) with mpps v18 and it was verry good.

ford edc16c34 2.20 r/w ok
i can't wait to see if can do edc16c34 5.95
