A friend of a friend has asked me about making him new keys because he has just had his Sprinter 2014 mileage corrected and the guy told him he needs new keys to get rid of the mileage stored in them.

is this correct or can the mileage in the keys be changed?

Thanks

Hi, thanks thought it didn't sound right... I'm guessing he took it to a button pusher who has blocked synchro in dash and meant he needs to get someone who does keys to change the mileage in EZS.

If so what tools can unblock synchro on a 2014 sprinter?

Its probably because the guy who told him is a clown.

use a can filter.. (i have easy can filter plug and play cable for this job.. just put it behind the odometer).

but this is the easy solution, its better to remove ezs and program it manually

I know a Mercedes dealer that i used to help With code used parts.
They tell me that Mercedes dealers will get a key Reader like BMW.
So soon Mercedes key will save all info like mileage VIN etc....

I think they already save such data, just look at the w213 key... Something totaly new as it seems

Sorry to ask in here, but is mileage only stored in dash on sprinter? If so, what chip?

It is stored in the instrument cluster (along with the assyst and assyst+ data which also needs correcting if still in warranty), the engine ecu (DPF data) the EZS (ignition switch) and there is also Ignition on hours stored in the airbag module (you can normally leave this)

Ah ok that's what I thought. Doesn't sound like a 10 minute job to me. I'm always afraid to mess with MB or BMW.

In IC? What about ECU and EZS?
