Hi everyone,

I found this site while doing a little research.

A guy i work with is selling the EuroVox EX5000 PVR, all ready to recieve all Virgin Channels but without the HDD.

He is Retailing them for ?85, is that a good price ?

Do you recommend this one compared to other products out there ?

Cheers,

That's a good price. Generally they are on the market for around ?105 to ?110. So price good.
You will need another ?40 for the HDD (Seagate 120GB or WD Scorpio 120GB the ones that work confirmed with this unit).
As to the quality........... menu looks good and it is a beautiful looking box.

It does work (my situation is a bit different as I struggle with poor reception for some reason) and it is easy to flash and programme and to use in everyday situations (and the PVR option is a nice bonus really). Only box I can compare are Pace boxes but I do not believe that would be what you're looking for. All in all (aside from my reception problem, and that's individual to my case please note) it is a good box and I am happy with it so far

On ebay the best price I found was 105 with no HDD but then I ended up buying one with HDD for 140. Think its a great looking box, easy to set up and I've noticed an improvement in menu speed from my old starview box.

Well i have had my box for ?95 just as agreed so from what you all say i am more than happy with the price.

Having a slight problem with the movie channels though, being that the signal level is a little bit low and every now and again the channel will break up for a few seconds. Is there anything that i can do without getting Virgin involved to prevent this happening ?

Just put my order on for my HDD so should have that soon, other than that all is good, apart from the fact i cant get subtitles to work :(

Any ideas on that anyone ?

Cheers,

BAMZ...
Check all 'f' connectors, including the ones outside where your cable goes into the plastic box, presumably on a wall in your garden. Make sure they are not loose and also check that the stinger, (copper wire) in each connection is clean.

You need to install the firmware that's in the downloads section. There's also a guide to help you with this.
