Hello everyone.

This might sound a bit offtopic but I wanted to know if it is possible to remove the speed limiter (VMAX=190 km/h) for 1.6 TDI CAYC (77KW) engine using the official dealer VAS tool without requiring to amend the tune?

This is what VCDS says about the ECU:
Address 01: Engine (J623-CAYC) Labels: 03L-906-023-CAY.clb

As far as I know, this is Simos PCR 2.1

Thanks!

Well, I have visited 3 local VW dealerships and asked them about speed limiter removal. The responses I got are these:
1) "There is no speed limiter in that 1.6 TDI engine. It simply won't go above 190 km/h because it's too weak"
2) "No, we can only lower the speed limit"
3) "Yes, we can raise the speed limit but want 60 EUR for at least looking at it"

So I got three completely different responses from official dealers! Ridiculous!
Wondering if it's worth to pay 60 Euros to have the limiter _possibly_ adjusted...

theres no way anyone would limit to 190kmh ? have you read ecu to see if its unlocked ? someone else had a play with it ?

Well, 124 Mph = 199 km/h so I must have been confused by a bit.
190 vs 199 isn't much of a difference but anyway, the limiter is in there. At top speed there RPMs are only about 3600 or so in top gear.

No, the ECU is factory locked and nobody has ever messed with it (it's bone stock).
