Hi, read eeprom 24C16 and post dump here for the code!

Use adaptor A6 (soic8 clip) instead of A10 (k-line pickup) buddy :)

Can it be done with a6 clip?

Yepp just use A6 clip to read 24c16 and upload here. Or chose from Carprog radio menu to show code in Carprog (you have to chose Philips CCR-2006 instead of VDO CDR-2005 but algo and location is identical so code will be correct).

Does eeprom fit into clip as if chip soldered to board and clip on top or does chip push into clip asif clip was a pcb?

Do i have to desolder?

Yes and heat enough to melt also 2 small glue pads under eeprom, apply upwards pressure (carefully) at same time bud. You have hot air?

It don't read any 24c chips? You have correct orientation with white sleeve on wire.

You have a different i2c programmer like Pony or anything?

Definate problem with you Carprog if it won't read 24c devices out of circuit. No data even if you chose the eeprom menu instead of car radio menu?

More likely 74HC chips inside clone will be junk. Possibly try adding extra 12v to carprog box with the extra jack lead and see if it read then.

If not, like Shooting says - time to build a Pony....... :chuncky:

All wiring checks ok

I bought carprog for this sort of thing and mileage correction

My hardware is faulty i take it

Or bad connection to eeprom?

Alot of clones with crap internals about mate. TBH i'd be really careful if you use it on any dash which has sensitive irretrievable data (like Ford immo data inside clusters) because I wouldn't trust a clone Carprog with anything like that.

Mine is only trusted for K-line while im on the move and certain airbags without opening - i wouldn't trust more than that.........

Repair kit:

http://www.codecard.lt/carprog/carprog-repair-kit-4x-74hc125-4x-22uf-capasitors-1x-mcp2515/prod_566.html

Grab yourself something like a UPA when you have spare funds buddy, it will pay for itself easy after a few jobs and you can trust it as a very useful addition to your Carprog.

Good luck

It all depends on the quality of the build, but I also know a guy who had the fully paid up original Carprog and he said that if he had the chance again he would've got something else :ambivalence:

Clones always seem to have their little glitches, missing features or strange characteristics with any auto-tools. The discussion on Carprog clone is endless. Read from this page to see similar cases of not being able to work with 24c chips:

Whatever you do, don't go near a VW RNS-510 navi with it - some people have made some lovely looking doorstops out of those navis by using Carprog clone

the current headunit is a cc20

if I disconnect to try the cdr2005 will the cc20 be locked if I try to refit?

is there anyway of retrieving the code before hand or will it not matter as long as I refit back in my vehicle?

That CC-20 definitely won't ask you for any code - it is already married to your display. They don't require a pin code to be entered when you disconnect / reconnect them.

One thing you definitely won't be able to do though is replace it with a CDR-2005 cd player I'm afraid. You need a Vauxhall CD-30 cd player buddy.
