hi
i currently have a custom tune in my 2015 Volkswagen gti and im thinking of purchasing the powergate 3 so i can switch between the stock and tuned ecu file for warranty purposes.

Now my question is will i be able to do that with the tuned ecu already in the car and can any tuned file be used or is it locked to some kind of dealer.

2015 VAG, Dont think so, needs to be put in boot mode ie: ECU opened to write mod file,
so not a option, any tool

as for warranty, you looked at ecu to see how well been opened and RESEALED - security bolts etc,
maybe you voided your warranty already, as if they see its been opened, chances are null and void

no they never took out the ecu. They did it straight with obd2 connection

Seriously Doubt reads just ID only the powergate + write of course
suprised tho for a VAG 2015 all i ever see is Oil burn edc17 anything VAG - BMW etc,
see my kess writes ok not read so similar to powergate 3,
orig prob easy to find if you havent got,
but sounds feasable your Plan, go for it mate

Do i need the stock ecu installed in the car for powergate 3 to work or can i upload it through the computer and can i use the tune ecu i already have installed in the car with powergate 3?

Think you need good Correct Original bin file, and mod file,
then you can load to powergate to transfer to car,
cant really remember to much on the powergate,
you realise you need to buy a master tool, not a slave
so there are cheaper options available, other tools also work this ecu, might save you some money

Kess V2 covers this ecu, you can buy china cheap, v cheap,
Master tool, covers far more than powergate 3,
