hi all

been trying to decode a radio for first time with carprog clone but it wont read 24C chips even with 12 volts

iv looked at various threads and cant see one with the same board as mine...everyone else seems to have an extra capacitor on there board linked to a transistor I think it is

I think I need to replace the 74HC125D chips according to other threads but do I replace them with like for like or a different type of 74HC chip?

it is brand new so slightly frustrating but if anyone has a known fix it would be much appreciated

its a version 8.21

cheers

really and this works everytime????????

i have 1 here i change all 4 74hc125's for 74hc125m's ... didnt work
changed for 74hct125m's and still not reading 24cxx
so dont say it works everytime mate but yes this is the first option to try
also you are missing the 47uf cap

Is this the right size and voltage?

You should get at least a 16v one

There's photos on this forum and all over the net to compare with

Ok sound il sort one out

Could that enable me to read 24c just by doing that or does capacitor have nothing to do with it?

You will need 74hct125m too like you have been told in other posts
This is the first thing to change u6 and add the capacitor
Then retest to see if it reads 24cxx if yes then your good to go
If not then more work needed

Why "M" and not "D" ? What is difference?

well ,If you like to change IC's let's do it with HCT version which is TTL instead of HC which is CMOS.I don't think that "M" is important but if others confirm that than use M . Prices is almost the same for M and D

i also had changed all chip to recommended but still could not read eproms and motorola mcu. by searching of my cp unit and adapters units i see there is no GND connection between CP board and adapter . take a look ground connection... so now i can read every thing tested on HC 05,08,12 ,,,eeproms 24cxxx 95cxxx 93cxxx ..good luck
