mate dpf has nothing to do with starting issues. as the car smokes white you might have an injector which isnt closing. also check glowplugs and compression!

i think your glow plugs arent working when cold. black smoke means not enough air getting into the engine. could be the ecu map, thats right. but check air filter, injectors and turbo first before touching ecu. ecu should be always last option my friend

it could also be a blown headgasket. it burns water when starting, when getting hot it starts to burn oil
