Hi friends,

I do not do Mercedes keys. But I have a friend that has W202 mercedes in USA and the key does not turn in ignition.
The remote functions (lock, unlock, trunk, panic) are all still working.

What steps I can take to troubleshoot the EIS? Do these require replacement / is this a common problem? Could it be
problem with transponder on the key? I have tools to remove the EIS if needed. But I have no software for Mercedes
except I have an old AK500 I can fire up if needed.

regards,

Very common problem is damaged coil on PCB. At first always check coil. Change it or move processor in key to the other key. This is the 'big fish' (the oldest one) or the smaller, newer one?
