With working key, Obd connect with avdi, or vvdi2.

The replacement cluster, does it come with a working key?
If not, read it with a programmer, like jtag from smok.
As far as i know, this car uses micronas processor.

No the cluster doesn't come with a key.
Can I do a chip change? Would that be easier?
Kind regards
Anthony

Fastest way read immo data from old cluster and trasfer to new. I used carpog for rb8 cluster (audi a4) i think r8 has same cluster.

You can forget about swapping ecu.
It is micronas.
Send it to someone, that can read it with a programmer.
Then adapt immo data.

You are wrong. R8 has Micronas 3217 + 24c32

No chip swap. you will need good tools

I tune cars as a part time job, and done many chip changes. In fact I did a 99 vw golf today motronic with amf29f200bb so chip reading I'm very familiar with. Just need to know what tool will do the job so I can buy it and get it done.
I do have a digiprog as well, vag tacho 5.5 but not tried any of them yet as cluster hasn't arrived yet.
Thanks
Ant

Then buy smok jtag programmer, with micronas option.
Some use xprog. Not to sure that xprog clone can do this.

And there is no other way to obtain pin for the clusters? I thought once you have pin, vagcom can code new clusters.?

forget the pin. it will not help you at all!

OK what tools do you recommend? Xprog?

You will need pin and cs, to learn in a key.
This can be obtained from the micronas cluster dump.
Then you adapt from there on, using a obd tool.

Xprog read/write perfect micronas. At least the ori...i can't say for sure if clones do it also...it also trandfers vin, pin, immo id and mileage but if you know how to use tools it is possible to transfer cs, keys, mac address and power class also...

OK,
Audi main dealer would use odis to do the job as I've been told by a few r8 members on the r8 forum.
But would need login to connect to servers to obtain cluster pin ect.
Sorry for the questions but I got 1 guy saying one thing and another saying something else lol.
I'd be pretty sure a Xprog clone would do it tbh. I'm assuming then the schematics for reading that specific chip will come with the Xprog software?
Literally read old cluster dump, then write new cluster dump with original dump?
Kind regards
Anthony

I use schematics from smok...many members' opinion is to transfer data and no whole dumps...

OK.
Would you be able to point me in the right direction for the schematics for my cluster? I've just ordered an Xprog.

That thead will give you some ideas about micronas.
I whas never able to do one with clone xprog. 5.0 and 5.5.5.
Jtag works for me. Reading that is, never written one with Jtag.
The pinout is from micronasFujitsu-programmer2.0,

Can anyone give me any idea how to power the cluster on the bench to check it works. Obviously don't want to plug it in my dash.

OK split the new clocks down as I don't want to mess with my current clocks until I'm familiar with the new set.
I've noticed the small pcb disconects from the actual clock with 2x white plugs.
As I'm only upgrading v8 clocks for the newer white illumination clocks can I just put my original pcb with all my data onto the back of the new of clocks??
No programming needed then... Pics to follow.

OK so I'll just Google and use a random picture of the Internet to program my R8. Read from the beginning. It clearly states I've no experience in cluster immo. I'm sure if you had an R8 you'd be double checking and asking for advice. Unless your going to offer anybadvice, why bother commenting? *****

laytonanthony (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php/479986-laytonanthony): Please watch your words.
paul just point you in a right direction. If you don't want to get help, feel free to leave, but you don't have any reason to insult him.
With that attitude you will lose here on DK. Already lose my help.

Well unfortunately he posted an idiotic question. Clearly I've already tried that. But he decided to be sarcastic about it. May of read it out of context but I don't really care. He clearly insulted me first.
