hello everyone just some advice please ,im working on a bmw x1 118i the engine ecu is water damaged however if i were to get a used ecu can i use the launch x431 to align the cas to dme regards.

Not as easy as that , Bearheroes seems to know a lot about isn and syncing cas units ,its going to be a similar exercise to your ML problem, regards

Which DME is it?

Yeah, you will need another tool for none dealer procedures. BMW Explorer, or autohex can for sure do it.

Sorry for late reply its a bosch MEV1746 TRICORE bosch part number 0261 S09 819 can i read with a bdm thank you .

Sorry for late reply its a bosch MEV1746 TRICORE bosch part number 0 261 S09 819 can i read with a bdm thank you . BDM is for MPCxxx m8. This DME has a TriCore processor, read / write in boot mode with proper tool.

X1 or 118?
Cas2 will never work with tricore ecu.

it an x1 engine n46b20ob engine i found an ecu which i tried but its from a e46 same engine i put on vehicle and fault ews ,,dme im not sure if it can work

ok i will see if i can get them part numbers cause im not to familiar with cas2 or cas3 How about starting the thread with telling us what car you are working on, like YEAR / MODEL / ENGINE? Also, DME part number would be nice. You can do that or is it too hard for you?

Sorry this is a bmw X1 118i engine N46 B20B with control unit 0261 S09 819 2010 model and the donor ecu that i have is of bmw E46 2005 ,engine N46 B20B and the ecu part number is 0261 208 388 i have fitted it on the the X1 and well as usual the fault code ews/dme will this kinda ecu work because the original is water damaged thank you
