Hi,

I am using an laptop with Corei3 370 Processor + 4GB Ram.
What would be an ideal version of linux to use?

I am currently using Ubuntu with Unity.
I am looking for a light weight linux version (Preferably with Debian at its heart) which is without much of the bloated softwares.

I'm a big fan of Arch (https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Arch_Linux) which just comes with the essentials and lets you install the rest, but the install process is definitely not straightforward. Lubuntu (http://lubuntu.net/) is a version of Ubuntu packaged with the desktop environment LXDE that's way lighter than Unity and is pretty fast.

Hello,
You can install Debian Jessie under Gnome, KDE, LXDE, XFCE, Cinnamon works well.

You can also use Handy Linux, antiX Linux, Backbox, ...

I would say from my experience, the lightest, live and popular is puppy linux.
