From the sketch of the eight legs you have post , if you look at the wires on the A6 clip the red one is on number 4 leg,and if you turn it round the red wire is then on number 8 that being the top left corner of your sketch. And it still says error reading chip I'd not found????

Red one on nr 1 leg - left down corner in the view from above and check contact between eeprom legs and clips.

Would it not be easier to use A4 adapter and solder wires on Looking at it your saying desolder it then place in clip that way the eeprom will be sat in the clip the other way up red wire would be on number 1 leg is that correct.

I see the point in the A4 adapter of soldering the wires in order onto the eeprom still in place on the board. But i do not see the point of the A6 adapter clip!!!!!! if your surpose to just place the clip on the eeprom all the wires are not in order on it .What is the point in it if you have to desolder the eeprom from the board then place it the right way up. Why didn't this A6 clip get made with the wires made in the right order so you just place it on top of the eeprom.

OK i tried and i failed, does anybody please know the order and which coloured wire goes where on this eeprom. I did follow the order of adapter A6 as if i had desolder the eeprom and placed it in the clip.
