The cluster is a CAN Gateway. You should check it first. (Check the CAN network)

Edit: Sorry but Lupu is right. Can Gateway is separated.

I hope succeed repair your car.

Cluster can gateway on mk5 Golf? lool
MK5 have a separate CAN Gateway.
super jumbe (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php/27064-super-jumbe): Did you check obd2 port if you have 12v+? If yes, check power lines on can gateway (under dash, above accelerator pedal).

check obd2 port if you have 12v pin16 and ground pin4,5
because the tool not communicate with any ecu, airbag, and abs, dash nothing

And see pinout for this ecu and try if to ecu goes grounds and 30 and 15 (30 is plus, 15 plus after ignition) Check this values in ecu connector.... I think car dont drive and mil no goes on when you turn ignition on?

Thanks Pals for your time, I have got 12 volt power coming to OBD Port 2 and I checked ECU for water damage all look good, were do I go to next stage could it be the fuse box near the battery damaged?

you must be able to diagnose MCU via K-line on pin 7 even if you have no CAN, see in autodata there is diagram with DLC conector, CAN wires and all modules

Check fuse #24 in engine fuse box. If is missing put 10Amp one.
