Merc Engine I.D

Hi All, does anyone know what Merc the 2.9Td 662.910 engine is fitted to. Ive got a Musso here with that engine and need wiring diagram for glow plus BUT none of the Autodata, Tolerance data or Vivid give any info for ssangyong, it does use the Merc controler for the glows so i should think (hope) one of the Mercs should be the same

no merc was fitted with 662 engine,
But what is your problem with the glow plugs maybe i can help. there is a timer relay used for the glow plugs seperate from the engine ecu. usual fault is the glow plugs themselves check individual resistance on them should be under 1 ohm

Thanks, I changed the glow plugs and still the same problem, hard to start when cold & when it does start chucks out a load of black smoke, where is the temp sensor for the glows ??

think its at the rear of the cyl head, what type of injection system are you running you could possible have injector problems its a specialized job. but on a diesel check the basics first. Rule1 is there enough compression.

The engine I should think is 100% as it only done 58000Klms (36.000 Miles) slowly, when the engine is running its perfect, smooth as anything. I think the problem is glow controller or glow temp sensor ??

well check the current draw on the glow plugs at ignition on normally about 20amps per glow plug when cold. injector spray pattern and timing are critical to easy starting. does it start okay when hot? also what can cause hard starting is when the fuel runs back to the tank and causes airbubbles in the lines.

It starts fine when hot, Im going to check fuel lines as well, I put a new plastic inline filter on yesterday so i'll check its got fuel in it and as you say not draining back to tank, I would like to check the temp sensor if i can find the kin thing. Ive got the sender for the gauge thats in the middle of head on cylinder 3 but need to check other
