three things

1) think you have made a mistake, Honda don't go wrong

2) water pump (see above no1)

3) Just try - carefully undoing pressure cap and see if it
hisses - ie david bowie and under pressure - (see no 1 above)

4) check with spec sheet for desired idle speed

5) try undoing bleed screw - if fitted and rev the boll*cks off it (bmw 3 series)

6) check coolant level

done all above ,, its just an odd ball me thinks

in that case

1) tell him it's fu**ked and he needs a new one

2) leaking/weeping pipe - external pressure test

3) intermittant waterpump/theromstat bypass?

4) put it on your two speaker (post) ramp and just lift
the front end up until either falls off ramp or at 87.7 deg
( vw t25 van)
then remove bleed screw and boot it.

5) might be worth contacting honda but you will either
get an instant "dunno they don't go wrong" or it will
take weeks for they reply "dunno they dont go wrong"

6) idle speed to low, but favour airlock

AFTER THOUGHT:-

1) what color is the anti-freeze, does look brown with lumps in it, mixed normal + longlife, or rad weld (age of car!) or somebody pooed in it.

2) auxillary electric water pump, pop the bonnett on a rover 820 or reno 19, you will see what i mean

3) phone rung eariler, odd cross line, 'George Peppard' said something like 'Deep Blue Something', think he meant park it over a drain, let some coolant out and put LOTS of antifreeze in it to make it run hotter (and dock it out of the lads wages), then he said as it is POETS day today (pi** off early tomorrow's saturday) he will be having 'breakfast at Tiffanys'

4) then the phone rung again another cross line, 'john lennon' said 'imagine' if the car is sold with all that antifreeze init to some bloke called 'mungo jerry' the thing will be overheating 'in the summer time when the weather is fine' ---- but at least you can fix it and charge him for it.

is it possable to leave your pressure testing kit on it, pump up to say 12bar-15 bar and leave overnight, do it when the engine is 'jam hot' and recheck, when it is 'as cold as ice'
see if it drops pressure

send the old one back to Honda DEMANDING a refund on new part, it's a faulty Honda part, must be the only one in a batch of 100,000 not good enough!

More to the point, how do you find ANY faulty honda part!
