Hi ,

I try to power on a cluster VDO 8P0920983 on table .

I connected the cluster like this :

Pin 1-2-18 to +12V

pin 3-4-19 to ground

pin 5 to pin 13 of gateway (gateway wake up)
pin 29 to pin 18 of gateway (can HIGH)
pin 30 to pin 8 of gateway (can LOW)

but when I plug the power to the cluster nothing happen , the cluster don't power up :grumpy:

Am I missing something ?

Thank you in advance for your help.
Bye

EDIT : Sorry for the double post I made a mistake :orange:, if a moderator can delete my previous post it would be great

Thank you lupu_sandu for your answer .

no i didn't missed the search and I found your thread http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/showthread.php/252521-Audi-A3-Dash-power-up/page2

and I am in the same state like you

I read it 10 times and I'm pretty sure the answer is in this thread but I have difficulty to understand some answer of other member ...

anyway I continue my search ;)

thanks

Search in my post and you will find.
You need bordnetz also. I post on DK pinout of CGW, dash + bornetz on table.

Thank you again lupu_sandu :congrats:

I will read your post because it seem there are usefull ;)

I don't have a bordnetz under the hand , until I got a bordnetz I will search on the arduino project because i found a youtube video where a guy use an arduino for wake up the cluster see it : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YCMpA1VCYuU

I will try to find information .

Thanks again

to be continued ... ;)

yes of course no problem ;)

at the moment I can only say that the hardware needed is an arduino board and a Can-bus shield board.

to be continued... ;)

No need bordnetz, no need GW, need just proper CAN command to wake up cluster and keep live

Do you have technical information about these proper CAN command for wake up and keep it alive ?

True, you need CAN commands and a canbus device to send them.
BUT, you can get bordnetz+cgw at any scrapyard and build A3 test bench for a few $$$

Easiest solution: log canbus in working car, then extract those commands which are relevant by trial and error.

agree with you lupu_sandu (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/member.php/61191-lupu_sandu)the easiest and faster way is the bordnetz and I will got one next week ;)

but I will also try later to log canbus and build the good frame for wake up the cluster with the arduino way ;)

Hi ,

I got a bordnetz but it is a new generation unit (8p0907063M of 2011).
This BCM as 3 connector of 52 pin.

I try to find the pinout for power on my Dashboard but i have no luck at the moment .

Here what connection I try :

CAN Gateway:
12v: 1,2
12v IGN: 14
GND: 11,12
CAN Dash: 8 (CanH) 18 (CanL)
WakeupDash: 13
CAN Diag: 9 (CanH) 19(CanL)
CAN Bordnetz: 5(CanH) 15(CanL)

Dash:
12v: 1,2,18
GND: 3,4,19
CAN Wakeup: 5
CAN: 29(CanH),30 (CanL)

Bordnetz :

Plug A :
+12v : 24
GND : 23

Plug C:
+12v : 13,14,31,34
GND : 30
CAN H: 15
CAN L: 16

Is there someone that already powerup a Dashboard with this type of bordnetz ?
Am I miising something ?
any help are welcome .

Thank you per advance.
