Hi guys,

I have a 1998 E36 316i with a water damaged DME.
The DME was repaired but it throws out EWS errors and can't be synchronized.

I have a donor ECU with the same part number, I swapped the 28F010 from the original to the donor unit but same synch issue.
The donor unit has the correct VIN after the MCU swap.
The fault code in the DME is "Immobilizer data-transmission fault, message (code, parity) incorrect".

My thought is to fit the complete donor DME to the car and change the ISN in the EWS to match, make new keys and job done.

I problem is that I don't know how to read the ISN from the DME.
I believe it's a BMS43 DME with bosh part number 0261203447

Does anybody know what tool can read the ISN?
Has anybody got a pinout for this DME so I can power it up on the bench?

Thanks!

Thanks guys, yep, its from an old E36, the photo's are in the first post.
The pinout I posted in #3 is the correct plug but that pinout does not work.

I may have the wrong ECU type, it's the best I could work it out to be after a lot of Google-FU!

Mate, there is so old ecu, that no bdm port exist. It was the ages, that maps was inside DIL20 package memory, UV erasable, and nobody heard about BDM then... Good stories for our son's, good stories for our grandchildren's soon :)

I'm not sure, but i think so. That pads seems like bdm, but it isn't, becouse used here processor had another technology. But i see there is flash in plcc, so with factory tool this ecu should be r/w.

I can read it with INPA but there is no option to write.
This one is in the too hard basket,l they can take it to the dealer!

Flashes, like 28f010 or another one, placed on your pcb could be desoldered using hotair and put into programmer with plcc32 adapter. Easy job both r/w... But how you find sync data to link with ews,..

I was reading that the MCU was protected.
Have you read this processor before?

Yes, read is no problem, but yeah, it can be read, but otp, so you have to use equivalent in r/w flash, 29fxxx i think to writing...
