yes, you can use other different number of ecu in theory always that you use other SIMTEC 71, not simtec 71.5 or others, only SIMTEC 71

here you have others references of simtec 71:

5WK9155
5WK9170
5WK9153
5WK9154
5WK9157
5WK9156
5WK9158
5WK9196
5WK91712

5WK91720
5WK91721

Hi,
I'm new to the forum.
I just red your post about these references and i really need your help please.
Here is my issue : i have a Vectra B from 2001, engine z18xe, with a misfire problem.
This is a known issue of course and after several tests, the diagnostic is ecu faulty. I have already faced the same problem two years ago on a Astra G x18xe1 and fixed it by replacing the whole kit : ecu + immobilizer sensor + both keys chips (bought one set on ebay with its pin code also). The car runs fine since then. I didnt reset the ecu, neither put the original vin number into the new ecu, i just plugged the full set like this with no reprogramming, car's been running fine till now.
Let's go back to the Vectra.
I have another car at home, used by my wife, a Zafira A 2001 with x18xe engine, means quite the same as the one on the vectra.
I have tried switching the whole ecu set between both the cars and the Vectra went fine.
The original Vectra's ecu is a simtec 71.
The one on the Zafira is a simtec 71.1
Several people said they were not compatible, but on the Vectra, it went fine and the vehicle runned well for a few weeks (passed the control even !).

I observed that the simtec 71.1 seems better than the 71 one (let's say "less fragile").
The immo sensors are exactly the same on both vehicles, with same reference.
My wonder is :
What other references could be good for the Vectra's ecu ?
Original (simtec 71) is 5WK9 1712
Zafira's ecu is (simtec 71.1) 5WK9 383
(seems stronger)

The immo sensor reference is 5WK4 763 on both cars.

I have red the list above (thank you romecu for these info) but need to know more wether these 71 and 71.1 are equivalent and what other references i can get to put on my Vectra.

I do have an opcom + another diag tool : delphi ds150e in order to reenter the car's pin code if i should buy a tech2 reseted ecu.
I found several references on ebay :
5WK9 384
5WK9 370
5WK9 374
5WK9 481
...
but i'm not sure 100% these will fit.

My real question is : if i buy an ecu alone (without its immo sensor an key chips), will i be able to pair it to the immo sensor on the car (after unpairing the original one) ?
I have my car's pin code too.

Thank you so much.
Anyone, your kind help is needed.

Thanks for reading.
Regards.

hello, you can code the driver, but they sometimes differ in equipment, e.g. cooling module, probe 1-2, then you need to flash tech2

Hi, thanks for the reply.
So you mean I would be able to swap between different references, but must check if i get any faults ?
When i swapped from Zafira to Vectra (zaf is originally with simtec 71.1, vectra simtec 71), i used the Vectra for something like two weeks, daily use, no faults appeared (except intermittent, but very rare, abs light on, but i suppose i already had this before on the car, also with the original ecu. Seems there are some people who faced the same thing on Vectras, a soldiering issue internal to the abs module).
You seem to know well about these ecus, could you tell me if a reset is possible using opcom rather than tech2 ? (I don't have tech2) I will be checking this by myself also and bring back an answer here if i find anything.
In the end, I still don't know what ecu reference would fit my vactra, and how to choose a best one on the web.

Thanks

hello opcom poorly resets immo in these models to disel is ok, I only used tech 2 + tis you can sometimes buy a computer logged out tech then opcom is fine

You need reset ecu and program new pin code with a lot of diag machine, if you would to see the coding if no are the same you can copy the original code and recode the new one, te a for example can do, for reset need old pin for program the pin of the car

5WK9156 from omega 2.2 y22XE the same problem, abrites read ok eep, but carprog can't

Only z22xe from Omega B can be used after conversion into z18xe. Y22xe cannot be converted into z18xe.
