I have ordered a DM600 PVR + hard drive and I am trying to get everything ready for when the box arrives.

Looking around the site, most of you seem to recommend the Pli Jade3,

Been to the download section to get it and the download link comes up with some sort of warning saying: "Warning: copy(./downloads/92322-pli-jade3-dm600pvr-20090619-6480.zip) [function.copy]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/downloads.php on line 704
ERROR: File not found"

Digital Kaos - Downloads - PLi Jade3 - for the Dreambox DM600PVR (http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums/downloads/images/2/pli-jade3-dreambox-dm600pvr-752/) :hmmmm2: seems like someone has taken it off the site. :hmmmm2:

Please can someone tell me if that is a good image for the DM600 PVR, if so has anyone else got another link to the file..

Also got a few other questions:

1, Is the image any good for recording with a hard drive.
2, how good is the EPG with that image.
3, will my Keys & cams from my Dbox2 be any use to copy over to the Dreambox, if so what directory do they have to go in.
4, I have also ordered a plug-in Sat tuner, once set up for cable will the same setup work with that when I plug it in.

Any help will be appreciated as it has been a long time since I have messed about with transferring images, but am doing this to try and keep the wife happy, as she wants some sort of easy way to record her programs... lol

Thanx Ian

1. The image is fine for recording.
2. The EPG is fair though most dreambox images EPG is not really as good as the closed source boxes.
3.You need to copy the files var/keys and var/scce folders.
4. You could use the same image but the configuration for satellite is completely different and you would need to use a different cam and files.

For EPG you could use the PLi SQLite EPG plugin. You'll find it in the blue button downloads menu.

Thanks Curious

Think I will use the PLi Jade3 as a starting point, do you know of another link to get it as the image on here seems to not available any more + the other images on here are labelled for different models, don't want to flash with the wrong 1.

Shame about the setup not being able to work Sat tuner plugged in, but that will be another project a bit later, as I have seen a few posts on duel boot loading from hard drive that I play with, once the box is working good with cable.

I had a look in downloads for that plugin, but could not find it.
I think DK must have had a clearout, Or some of the files have got lost from when he had to change servers. lol

Found a plugin called "WeekEPG 3.0b" though.

Imagine having a pc and you decide that you would like to change the display card. The pc still works with Windows but the card does not work properly until you load the correct drivers for the diplay card. This is the same in a dreambox when you change thetuner, it does not quite work until you oad the correct configuration.

Thanks Curious, Good explanation,
I sort of understand now, the same Pli image will be ok for both tuners (good), but if I have the drivers (cams ect) for both tuners in the same directory, do you think it will be a matter of changing just a few settings in the image & rescanning for subs?.
Not sure if I will be better off getting each image working individually and saving each of them as a backup, so I can flash the box with whichever one I will be using at the time.
Or trying out the dual boot from hard drive method, but not sure if anyone has tried the dual boot with 2 different tuners,
I have only seen postings on dual boot with the same tuner, to test out other images.

It won?t be that often that the tuners will be changed, it will be as a backup for if for any reason I have problems with cable, and so I can look at what Sat has got to offer.
So prob will do the backup method.

I think I now have most the tools and information to get the box running, (when & if it gets here), and I am sure I will be back when it starts to go wrong... lol

Thanx again for your help.

I would make seperate backups with each of the tuners. To get the maximum out of sat you would need a minimum of 80cm motorised dish and a satellite dreambox connected to the internet. TBH you won't waste your time with cable once you have got a your sat set up working.

Think I will do seperate backups, be a while b4 I get as far as motorised, will prob start with a 80cm or 1mtr static dish first to sort out some settings with the DreamBox, then go motorised...
