Can anyone help me, wanting to know which tool to use to read a golf iv 1.6 16v. Will a kess v2 do it? Thanks

It's maybe marelli or simos maybe galletto or kess work.... or read eprom...

i'm doing it mostly for fun and don't fancy having to buy an EPROM programer, though I do want to remove EGR. DTC keeps coming on for it every once in a blue moon once reset it takes ages for it to come back on.

Would rather do it over obd, is it safe to try reading the ecu with wrong settings, like if it's a simos and I set kess to marelli? I also had the idea to take a quick look at ksuite and seen that only golf mk iv 1.4 in the list has the marelli ecu listed though everywhere on the net suggests the 1.6 has a marelli, presume that would be ok to use the 1.4 in the list for the car?
