Thanks for all the useful posts, I think I know what I want but dont know if anything exists.

I would like to open up the DM500 a little as its been locked down buy the original supplier (3 years ago) and does nothing but Sat video.

I'd like to update to later CCAM (on 2.03 at the mo) and would like to use some of the great plugins.

I have TUX Commander but as I dont have ftp access i cant dump it in VAR.

I have through the forums help set up a share so can dump files in a dreambox folder and read the contents from the DM500 but this didnt work straight off for tux commander, and so im assuming hacksat and other plugins will be the same.

Is there anyway of me resetting the password without flashing the box which would lose me the Sat services I have.

Thanks in advance

Marc

As there has been 30 reads and no reply should I take it that without ftp access or root access to the box, there is no other way other than to re-flash the box. if someone could confirm that would be great.

Thanks for replying Curious123,

As I mentioned in my first post I can't get tuxbox onto the machine as I dont have FTP access, also i can not download it through the blue menu as when I go to update the lists etc it comes up with a Http: 404 error message basically informing me that the webpage is no longer available, which I confirmed through trying to access the page direct through my laptop.

Any other help would be very much appriciated

Kind regards

Marc

If you are having trouble through the Blue menu than there is proably a problem with your box connecting through the internet. Check that your default gateway is set to your router gateway and you have the correct Nameserver configured for your ISP.

to save much time just get null modem cable and flash latest images. most of the time this solves any problems
